I'm not even sure they got the number of floors correct. Look at the glass windows. Even if they represent double-height floors, it doesn't match the actual number of floors on the real building.

You'd think if they are hiring a Lego model master to make a scale model of their building, they'd at least get the model scale to make sense. This makes it look way off.
lol it's called abstraction. A model scaled correctly to the lego people would be 3x bigger in every dimension (27x bigger)

its lego... not a scale model. its a cool addition that isn't meant to be an exact replica. it is meant to be fun.

this is better than just an actual boring scale model. (though i like those to)

Now the question is if Amazon actually occupies their space.

I certainly hope that Amazon will take their space. It's great having Seattle as our neighbour city in the USA. But if Amazon doesn't, someone else will, I'm sure.
At any rate, the street-level treatment of the new windows and glass awnings augurs a great place downtown to eat, meet, have lunch, and otherwise dynamize that part of town.
I'm looking forward to opening day!

Do you mean because of things like this?

Amazon, Meta Join Ranks of Tech Companies Slashing Thousands of Jobs

..Amazon
The e-commerce titan plans to cut about 10,000 jobs. The layoffs will likely target Amazon’s devices group, responsible for the Echo smart speakers and Alexa digital assistant, as well as the retail divisions and human resources, Bloomberg News reported.

In November, Amazon halted “new incremental” hiring across its corporate workforce...

I wasn't sure about this building when it was first proposed but now that it is nearly complete, I like it.

They have done an EXCELLENT job of integrating the original Postal Station and maintained it's entire integrity. They didn't just put in a small section of the original building which is nothing more than tokenism but rather made the Postal station truly the foundation of the building and did a very good job.

This building is how ALL reconstructions should be done.

Tech layoffs fuel speculation about Vancouver sublease space
Peter Mitham
Nov 18, 2022 7:30 AM
...
Amazon Canada spokesperson Kristin Gable told Western Investor that Amazon is holding the course on its lease commitments.

"The South Tower at The Post is nearly complete and we plan to welcome employees into their new office space in June 2023," she said, noting that the only change might be a reconfiguration of the floor layouts.

Amazon also intends to occupy the building's north tower when it completes in 2024, she added....

The most obvious mistake is the drab grey columns at the base, which from a distance looks like exposed concrete rather than stone. They should've stuck to a red/brown stone per the original palette.

The towers above could've been more solid/grid-like similar to 402 Dunsmuir next door, to expand on the language of the mid-century podium

yeah... i am surprised they went with that grey; it doesn't really match at all and cheapens it. other than that, i am happy with the development. more height would have been nice but was never possible so.

The gray granite columns are original to the building design on the Georgia facade, so it looks like they continued the design around to Dunsmuir.
They were always mismatched compared to the yellowish and red facade.

You can see the gray granite columns in the 2018 shots.

ah i stand corrected - i guess the grey makes sense as the columns connect to the new towers as well

i really wish the glass additions had some red panelling / spandrel to tie in with the podium and make it a bit more coherent.

The red at the moment is so minimal it might as well be an afterthought.

I just don't get why we are so afraid of colour.

I would've liked red spandrel for the towers too, but I think the general ethos regarding heritage around these parts is to avoid any overlap between the new and old, in the interest of as-is preservation, rather than enhancing the original
