It's not so much that I dislike Edmonton, but since Vancouver is in there, I would like to see us get a split of the 10 games with Toronto.

Call me crazy, but I feel the split should be Vancouver and Toronto with 4 each, and 2 in Edmonton.

Ya Edmonton got their Iceteca game in qualifying and we got nothing.

The games will sell out anywhere and the fans will be obnoxious.

BC Place looks the best out of the three and aerial coverage of Vancouver always kick ass.

Super happy for the guy. He's played excellent for CMNT and I expect this is the first of many over in Europe.

Good to see Richie Laryea finally starting to get some time at Nottingham Forest and getting good reviews in their promotion push to the Premiership.

Inter and Milan have moved for Lille’s Jonathan David but the possibility of him moving to Italy remains distant.

Daniele Longo has reported that multiple clubs have moved for the Canada international and the phone of the player’s agent has been ringing constantly for a long while now. Inter and Milan did make an approach but Lille’s demands of €60 million have made sure that it is tough for the Milan clubs to sign the player.

Because of David’s contributions, Canada are one step away from qualifying for the FIFA World Cup as well and Lille know that they have the opportunity to make a massive profit from the sale of the striker in the summer.

It is unlikely that David plays in Italy next season, as the likes of Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United are well ahead of them in the race for the player.
AC Milan eye a summer transfer for Ligue 1 superstar
Jyotirmoy Halder getfootballnewsitaly.com May 11, 2022

With a change in ownership, AC Milan look to take the approaching summer transfer market by storm.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan, supposedly backed by the new owners, could make a swoop for Lille’s Jonathan David this summer.

On the back of a stellar campaign in Ligue 1, the 22-year-old has emerged as a sensation ahead of the summer transfer market. Having scored 13 goals from 36 appearances in Ligue 1 this season, the Canadian has attracted new suitors, including the Rossoneri.

The report understands that David is seen as one of the most intriguing prospects for Stefano Pioli’s attack for the next season. The young striker has a contract at Lille until June 2025, making it a potential deal complex from the potential Scudetto winners’ point of view. But, as per the report, the club will do their best to land the marksman as he remains one of the transfer options for the club.

Investcorp and Red Bird are the two interested parties battling for AC Milan’s ownership, with the Rossoneri supporters being hopeful of a major overhaul of the squad in the summer.

CanMNT to play friendly vs. Iran, June 5 at Vancouver’s BC Place
Charlie O’Connor-Clarke, Digital Content Editor CanMNT canpl.ca May 12 2022

Canada Soccer announced on Thursday morning that, as part of preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the men’s national team will be playing an international friendly match against Iran on Sunday, June 5 at Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium, kicking off at 4 pm PT (7 pm ET).

The match will be part of a three-game international window for Canada, coming just a few days before the two Concacaf Nations League group stage matches on June 9 against Curaçao (also at BC Place) and on June 13 against Honduras (away in San Pedro Sula).

Iran currently sit 21st in the FIFA World Rankings (making them the highest-ranked team in the Asian Football Confederation), while the Canadians were most recently ranked 38th after the last World Cup Qualifying window. The Iranians, led by Croatian head coach Dragan Skočić, were recently drawn into Group B for the upcoming World Cup, where they’ll take on another Concacaf side in the United States as well as England and the winner of the UEFA qualification playoff. Canada, of course, are in Group F alongside Belgium, Croatia, and Morocco.

The Canadian men’s national team has played Iran three times in its history, most recently a 1-0 win in Egypt back in 2001. Canada also lost 1-0 to Iran in 1997 and 1999, in Toronto and Edmonton respectively.

Ticketing details for this friendly against Iran and the following Nations League match against Curaçao are available at Canada Soccer’s website

That was more about sticking it to the other team than a slight against Vancouver.

I think they should be happy for the Iran game. This is vitally important, it's going to help show where we stand in the world, as we still really have no idea how good (or not so good) we are yet.

Would be nice if Winnipeg could host a friendly for the men's national team one of these years.

Do they still have the original FieldTurf Revolution surface installed October 2012?

I wonder if we got those games because we're now in for the World Cup?

They do have the original fieldturf as far as I can remember. They will definitely have to replace it as it's approaching ten years old.

While they are usually guaranteed that long and a tad longer, what usually happens is a big enough event comes along and most are replaced around eight years. I suppose two limited years of use because of the pandemic might make it a "young" ten years old but it is definitely EOL.

Many of the other stadiums are due as well. BC and Hamilton are new, while the last before that was Regina in July 2016, so they all should be in the market in the not too distant future.

Carlo Ancelotti (born 10 June 1959) is an Italian professional football manager and former player who is the manager of La Liga club Real Madrid. He is regarded as one of the greatest and most successful managers in history, and is the joint-top UEFA club winning manager.

Ancelotti is one of only three managers to have won the UEFA Champions League three times (twice with AC Milan and once with Real Madrid), and the first and only one to have managed teams in five finals. He has won the FIFA Club World Cup twice, managing Milan and Real Madrid. Ancelotti is also one of seven people to have won the European Cup or Champions League as both a player and a manager.

As a manager, he has worked for Reggiana, Parma, Juventus, Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Napoli, and Everton, and has won domestic titles in Italy, England, France, Spain, and Germany, becoming the first manager to have won league titles in Europe's top five leagues in 2022, after winning La Liga during his second spell with Real Madrid.
