I've been wanting to drive up and take some side-by-side pictures of the models I've made so far with the real buildings. I'll finish doing the Austonian block first though.

Any interest in wanting to see these irl? I could see about doing it on a weekend if there are people that do.

This may be a long shot, but does anyone have saved the site plans of most of the downtown highrises, or at least point me in the right direction to find them all/talk to the people who might have them?

It makes drawing these out loads easier and faster and more accurate since I can just trace over the elevation drawings that are usually included.

Like this one of the Marriott that I found on the Design Commission

Any tips and tricks would be helpful. <3

From my short experience drawing diagrams, very few of the readily available elevation diagrams are accurate. Most are preliminary designs prior to tweaking and value-engineering. I think The ATX may have quite a few based on the past digging I’ve done through the various building pages in this forum.

At Austin Build + Connect https://www.austintexas.gov/abc-applications you can search for any site application by address, name or date. Many will have elevations included, if they are subject to any kind of overlay (CVC, Waterfront, Parks, Creeks, etc.) because they are needed to prove they are in compliance with the overlay. Also, Downtown Density Bonus projects will often have elevations included, but not all.

I also have a bunch of the elevations saved from the site plans from the city's website. I also have some photos I took of some paper form (older) elevations of One American Center and One Congress Plaza and also the Frost Bank Tower. I have physical copies of those, too, that I had laminated, but not in digital form. I have more digital copies of the elevations on my computer, but it's down at the moment. I do still have a lot of them from a few years prior to the 2020s on this computer. If there's a specific building you're looking for, I might have them. I saved every high rise elevation I came across.

Do you possibly have 4 Seasons Residences? I can't seem to find that one anywhere.

This is awesome! Started poking around on there and found ones I didn't expect to find.

That's one of the ones I couldn't find. Believe me, I tried.

Damn, oh well.

Finished Austonian today. Any requests on which direction to work on next?

1. Northwest to 6th and Guad, getting the two U/C 600 footers along the way.

2. Straight West to Seaholm, getting Republic, Independent and Block 185.

3. Skip over Waterline (for now, supertalls need a fuller skyline to lord over) and get started on Rainey district with all the U/C stuff there.

Im leaning towards option 3 personally.

I’d love to see a 3D paper 415 Colorado, but that’s just me. It’s my favorite currently U/C.

If you're leaning toward Option 3, then I'd say go for it! Would be fun to see what that district will look like with all the completed U/C projects in a 3D space.

How about heading north up Colorado? There's plenty of good buildings on each side of the street. It will allow you to do a mix of older and newer buildings of all different sizes and styles, and it will give you a base from which you can head either east or west.

I tried with Frost, but it was such a pita that I gave up half way through. I need to get a better setup and also try it with a much simpler model.

now you'll need a little teeny tiny drone and do some fly-bys.

After you do all the buildings in downtown, maybe you can make some hills in the background...?

In all seriousness, it is fantastic work. Thanks for sharing!
