A lot of the houses along Grandview highway on the south side between Rupert and Renfrew have Land Assembly sales going on. Are there more towers allowed along this stretch?

a couple of Developments next to the Sleep Country to the west have been doing nothing for a few years, the Pizza Hut seems to be using all its tables for boxes now, Not sure of that Pizza Hut is involved in a redevelopment but either side of it are, does anyone know if they were approved? They are quite the eyesore in their current state.

Half of Grandview is already covered by the Secured Rental Policy, so it could be a mix of assembly for that policy and anticipated new policy. If I recall the Pizza Hut site won't sell. Neither will the construction supply lot to the west. Real sticks in the mud.

Concrete was being poured at 2525 Renfrew yesterday so that's under construction, not just a common excavation.

I didn't realize, it's actually 3 active sites:

#1, next to Rona

Better late than never - it could easily have sat empty until 2050 like all the WCE stations in Maple Ridge...

It may soon be last call for the Poor Italian Ristorante on E 1st Ave & Rupert Street, as plans to replace it with a 6-floor, 63 rental home building have been submitted. Still, it’s possible Tony Parsons' photo may once again greet guests here in the future.

Will the cousin of one of the other proprietors, the renowned crooner Michael Buble, come in to bring the curtains down if this is approved? We can’t say, though we can venture a guess as to who the developer might be thanks to this 2012 Van Courier report

Today it looks like a missed opportunity, to put these low rises near SkyTrain Station.

Ken Sim has echoed your thoughts. Same thing around Royal Oak Station, which our glorious planners thought it was a good idea to zone for 3 storey apartments next to.

The fact that the planning for this area started in 2021 is hilariously sad. Hopefully it passes before Council's Christmas break.

The first draft plan is out, and imo, it is a bit underwhelming. I was hoping for more residential closer to the stations, but the City has opted to retain the existing commercial zones that contain mostly big box stores with their huge parking lots. It's not really industrial to begin with, but that's what they are designating these areas as, though that's what they initially indicated would happen.

Would also like to see more retail along the southern sections of Rupert and Renfrew.

It's progress though. More info from Daily Hive anf the CoV

I get the feeling those plans for Still Creek are mostly aspirational - there's a lot of warehouses they'd have to dig up.
