I do not believe there has been any change to the height of 423 feet. A change in number of floors and underground levels yes, but not height. Please correct me if that is not the case.

Funny how these "heritage buildings" got on activists radar only when new developments were proposed. NIMBYism disguised as heritage conservation?! If they felt so strongly about heritage preservation then should put their money where their mouths are.

That's right, it's not about Heritage.

It's about their favorite style of architecture (Victorian) and keeping their preferred view of a quaint London from their very comfortable stations in life. And the feeling of power they get as spoiled loudmouths.

Looks like the L2 floor concrete slab is being poured today. Smart to take advantage of good weather today before snow overnite and the polar vortex coming in for next 7-10 days.

Looks like the public meeting is scheduled for March 1st on zoning change and demolition of Dufferin Ave law office house. Let's hope this is quickly approved and moved forward to council ASAP without the usual parade of heritage NIMBY whining.

Can you guys chill with the constant heritage NIMBY talk and put down you pro-development boners for a sec?

This corner has been decimated by big developers trying to throw up new towers, and I think having a talk about the last remaining heritage building left is perfectly fine. Tricar demolished 4 century homes to build Azure, Rygar demolished the Camden Terraces (arguably the nicest rowhouses we had left in the city) and now Old Oak wants to demolish the Dufferin house. Oh but it's all good, they're going to slap a replica Disneyland facade on the podium.

I appreciate new development and heritage. A city quickly becomes boring if it loses focus of one of the two. Just because I like my city to retain some character doesn't make me a NIMBY.

You guys sound like a bunch of rabid 12 year-olds. And Pimp, you can drop the tired LFPress comment section classic of "put their money where their mouths are"

London or maybe Canada in general seems to have such an ad hoc approach to heritage. So really it goes from council to council what heritage is. I agree that we've allowed most developers just to be lazy and do whatever is easiest and makes them the most money when it comes to this issue. So many buildings that are just slabs of concrete go up without any thought to the history. And the funny thing is this - if developers were smart, they would actually find a way to integrate heritage into their buildings because that would give the developments history, identity and character. The Drewlo, Tricar slabs are a dime a dozen and I would hate to live in a building that is just a hand me down, cookie cutter from some Toronto suburban development. I'd also hate to work for a company that had no soul, which I am afraid a lot of these companies are.

All this talk reminds me of a episode from Thunderbirds. It's a show from the 1960s set in the 2060s.

In it, an area of NYC is cleared for modern development. The Empire State Building (now a 130 year old heritage structure) is saved however, a decision was made to move it rather than build around it.

Here's the video if interested. Guess they never imagined digital cameras and cell phones would become a thing back then lol.

Skip to 18:45 in for the event I'm referring to.

I loved watching reruns of this show when I was a kid in the 80s. Spoiler alert: moving the Empire State Building doesn't go so well

2nd floor posts have the steel rebar up in the SW corner. Should see forming and maybe a concrete pour for some of these next week if the weather cooperates.

Have about a dozen L2 walls and posts poured now under the south tower side of pit. None of the perimeter walls have been started as of yet.

Old Oak withdraws full demolition application to go back to original plan. Will see the west and north facade saved.

Thank God.

Now let's hope they go full steam ahead and get those affordable housing units built ASAP.

Here is the planning consultants website with an artist rendering from back in the Rygar days of the Dufferin Ave law office incorporated into the podium base. All that will be retained is the north and west side facade while the rest of house will be removed.

Have made some more progress on the L2 posts and the elevator and stairwell walls for L2. Still no L2 perimeter walls formed or poured yet. They have added a construction office trailer to site as they appear to be prepping the old law office house for work that will brace the north and west facade walls. Should see alot of activity on the north side foundation this spring and summer.

Anyone know when we will start to see this tower actually rise? They started this over a year ago I thought.

Have now poured the L2 level perimeter walls on SW corner. Have started the L1 floor slab forming at that end too.
