Don’t really get the vagina vibe.

About as relevant as calling every tower a penis, I mean, look at the Butterfly over there…

PS, happy to see this tower move forward.

aside from the green walls/trees becoming a green cladding, it looks like the streetscape/lobby area has also been significantly value engineered

previously, there were large, cladded mega columns on the lobby level with a recessed, seamless curtainwall with glass mullions encasing the lobby behind similar to an apple store. Now it just seems like any normal development with glass and spandrel here and there on the street

also, it seems like the top floor is now an indoor amenity level with an additional rooftop garden and hot tub above

anyone also know when the developer changed once again from Henson to Brivia or Henson still retains partial ownership and only partnered up with Brivia

The city shouldn't approve buildings like this without a realistic price band outlining the price for market condos and rent for the market rentals.

Seems like it just happened at the end of August. I guess they also sold their West Van Wentworth Lands project.

With continuous growth and strategic expansion, Brivia Group is proud to announce its official advancement into the Province of British Columbia with the acquisition of two major development projects in downtown Vancouver and West Vancouver.
A project manager and a VP from Henson also transferred to Brivia in May.

Thanks for the info.

I wonder if there's any way to see what the holding company was acquired for from Henson

A shame they seem to have removed the 15th floor deck that looked a bit like a stumpy little diving board, I liked that little feature.

Shouldn't really need to point this out, but if you've outlined the price of 'market' condos and 'market' rental then it's not market any more...

I had to.
It was just lying there.
Like low hanging fruit or something.).

1075 Nelson - August 2021 Concept - UDP Review

World’s Tallest Passive House Fails To Earn The Support Of Vancouver’s Urban Design Panel

1075 Nelson St (DP-2021-00589)
As I knew the Urban Design Panel was scheduled to review the world’s tallest passive house building, I was ready to be amazed when I walked into city hall’s Joe Wai Meeting Room. Sure enough, I was greeted by the most impressive scale model I’ve seen in months. It was only after I quickly snapped some photos to send to Hannah that I realized nothing could have prepared this applicant team for the thrashing they were about to endure.

It’s not that these volunteers acted unprofessionally, nor did they lack expertise, as Jennifer Marshall, Laura Jimenez, and Robin Williams were invited by city staff to join them as non-voting guests. Rather, it’s that several of those present have previously stated they’re worried the creation of more housing was making Vancouver a worse place to live. A virtual attendee who now resides in Gibsons, took that further, lamenting how our city’s bright lights were ruining their night sky.

Wishful thinking, no doubt, but

TBH, IMO this building design was always rather "synthetic" and ugly. I shed no tears for its cancellation, but wish that they could build the original design with the 'crown."

Is it completely cancelled or does it need to be reworked once again?

if the building needs to be reworked, they should roll back to the old design with the pixelated roof.

Why were these people given the time of day to comment when they were already against the very idea of another tower itself no matter the design?

That’s my question too.

It’s pretty obvious that they aren’t impartial to the project if their preferred route of action is no project at all.
