Thread hasn't been bumped since 2020? Boom! A $66m construction permit this week. Bring it on!

Where is PhillyYIMBY finding this? Atlas has no new permits issued in two years, and the article linked doesn’t cite any sources.

I've been wondering what the status of this is?
And the Dilworth House project on Washington Square.

I'm always happy when a skyscraper goes up that blocks the views of Nimbys.

Nope, it’s real, it’s on Eclipse and shows up as an addition since it’s attached to the hotel. 31 stories, 272 residential units.

Speaking of Dock Street area...
Is there any movement on Penn's Landing Park?

The parking lot is full of large clay pipes and structural materials. It's going slow but they do look like they're working on the infrastructure stuff.

Not sure where the engineering is on this yet but I bet they're getting close on that.

They were looking for bidders for the engineering, or at least part of it, a couple of months ago.

If the developer had wanted to build taller, were there limits that would have made that more difficult then what they had to go through as it was? I don't claim to understand the added costs of building taller, except that they are there, but just on the market side, I think this is a great location and if the building was complete now, buyers would be lining up.

Scanning the PA Supreme Court docket, and it looks like a particular local battle is over. Without comment, the Court last week denied the petition for appeal filed by the Society Hill Towers Owners Association, which sought review of a December 2020 Commonwealth Court opinion which affirmed the ZBA decision to allow a 31-story residential tower to be built on the Sheraton/Marriott hotel site at 1 Dock Street. That Commw Ct decision below is here, https://www.pacourts.us/assets/opinions/...RFdL0iib_hhtYdoFw7x_p6DQ1Twy1CLPthI7ydq4, and here's a picture of the proposed development.

Also, are you a member of that FB group? I used to love posting development news in that group until a bunch of extreme left anti-everything kooks took it over.

Yeah, I'm a member of it. Not the best lately.... you're definitely right... it's pretty extreme. I don't post anything in there ever, but every once in a while some good tidbits like this one are posted in there, so I keep an eye on it.

I follow it but stopped posting.
I don't know about left-wing, which I am, but every time I post something, the most innocuous postings, I get blasted about some obscure detail

Yea, I used to post actively, but got chewed up for being pro-development, pro-business growth, etc., therefore I stopped, but good info passes through from time to time.

You should take a closer look. It has gotten pretty extreme. Literally 90% of the posts are about anti-gentrification, anti-growth, anti-police, anti-abatement, complaints about trucks blocking bike lanes which is somehow linked to wealthy white people moving in (yes that was an actual post). I used to post things that I thought were uniform positives such as a tech company choosing Philadelphia over NYC, and it was met with severe criticism by these kooks. I guess some people wake up angry, lol.
Sadly the group has gone downhill, and I am by no means conservative, but couldn't take it anymore. At least here people are generally pro-growth and share differences of opinion respectfully.

Anyways, I will get back on topic. Let's build this!

I went by this site today, I can confirm one backhoe on site with some vegetation torn up, but more importantly, lines have been drawn on the cobblestone for placement of the construction fence, guessing construction is imminent.

Very welcome news. It's always a good sign when the blackhoes start showing up.
