I hope the condo market corrects before this thing has a chance to start construction.

Those are good refinements. It looks visually much more pleasing now.

Ideally it would be a second Vancouver House, mirroring the first.

the faceted curved balconies are a real turn-off for me...I also wish it wasn't trying so hard to have a dance with VHouse, creating those arbitrary curved lines...what would be so wrong about contrasting House with an elegant rectilinear solution?

I think the staggered window effect will end up similar to the "fish scales" at Canada House in the Olympic Village:

I'm afraid to say it, but this project really needs to go back to the drawing board. It would be a somewhat interesting landmark tower design for a suburban town centre, but doesn't cut it for one of Vancouver's most prominent sites.

Definitely improved since the last iteration we saw. The cut in mid tower is actually pretty large, about 5m, so it should appear prominent from the bridge.

Anything other than a quality curtainwall system on this tower would be a huge mistake though.

I think that the scale texture would be interesting.
Better than a flat curtain wall or window wall.

Judging by the storm that resulted from this tweet, this proposal might see some strong anti-tower / anti-development opposition.

Don’t see much of a storm there, just the usual hilarious uniformed comments from the fringe.

PS, one of the funniest misinformed rage comments I saw recently was this one:

Quote:
Get out of my city. Take your ill-gotten funds and go back to Hong Kong
And that was from a comment section on “The Stack”

Just wrong on so many levels...

I wish Hong Kong money was interested in building office buildings in Vancouver!

Why aren't they, as opposed to building condos?

The renderings look subpar and dated. I certainly wouldn't mind having an office/hotel in its place.

Agreed. An office/hotel tower here with a sky bar and restaurant at this location would be awesome. But then again you know how this City is with their inflexible zoning and OCP, so that will never happen. We need change.

Overall, the new rendering is way better, and would look good at this location.

its looking junky in my opinion, full of meaningless curvy lines...and those faceted rounded balconies will look extremely tacky

it will be an embarrassing gateway building into our downtown

why don't they actually design facades that might use environmental performance and aspect as criteria (like solar shading bride soleils)

hearing the news its definitely time to start solving environmental issues and the city should insist that a gateway building like this is an exemplar of state of the art technology instead of a third-rate dumb-ol' graphic nothing piece of crap
