Great! I really like this one.

The green component I assume to be a disappointment, so I hope those cavities are executed well to make it interesting.

Admittedly, I thought this one might see more opposition at council due to the events at the UDP. I'm glad to see I was wrong. The photos are from Feb 23rd, 2018.

I don't remember the front face of that building being so dark. Did it get repainted recently before this, or am I imagining things?

it looks painted. I remember when it was a restaurant. But can't recall what it was in recent times.

looks like it was painted darker sometime between 09 and 12 according to google street-view. but it was always pretty dark going back as well, just got a tad darker.

No, it was a restaurant somewhere in the early 90's. Back when I was still working I would go there for lunch with my co-workers.

As for the darker colour of Feathered Friend's last pics, I think it's just the low light when the pics were taken. I encounter that a lot in the winter when I'm trying to get some decent pics in the late afternoon.

I suspect the building will be gone very soon. Once they've gutted it then it might just take a day or two to knock down the walls.

Agreed that it is probably just a natural lighting issue. While I took the photos at around 2:30pm yesterday, we all know the weather was far from a sunny day.

It's been updated, there are some 1980s images in The Archives, one only recently uploaded. The restaurant fit out was in 1986, and it was a gallery for a few years before that. It started life as a car showroom, then a cigar factory, and then s car showroom again.

That's right, I remember that now. Actually when I went for lunches there it was something before Kishu. I remember it was sort of European/Continental food and cafeteria style.

We recently found a 1978 Archives image that shows the building occupied by the Ace Gallery on the eastern side, and an announcement of the ‘Future Location of Names Restaurant’ in the western side of the building.

Does this one need to go before the UDP again for it's DP permit?

Something tells me it does and it may have a tough time of it if they do not address the ground plane issues the panel pointed out last time.

Pic by me this morning.

The sidewalk on that side was closed - so parts of the main structure may have already come down today?
