Two columns supporting the upper floors do not come to ground,

I don't know about everyone else but I must say I am really loving this project its a really nice one for the area its in. Also, love the look and feel in contrast with the overall area.

I suspect it'll be there for awhile. They've flattened the old library and seniors centre across the street and I haven't heard of anything happening on those sites, and they'll likely be developed before anything happens to Rona.

A lot more awkward to redevelop those two city sites, due to the BC Housing seniors towers. Currently flattened and grassed to not pay upkeep.

Last I heard (2 years ago) was that the city and BC Housing might want to combine everything and sell it off to a developer on the condition of getting replacement building/units. With the BC Housing seniors project by Stride on 14th taking in existing tenants.

But that depends on the quality of the two remaining towers, and if it's cost effective to demo.

Rona will get redeveloped earlier than you think, Lowes doesn't really like the smaller Rona footprints, and will likely want to sell the property if the price is right.

Expect more lowrises going up along edmonds though, merging several properties, and then in the surrounding area more townhouse/rowhomes developments.

I am surprised with the recent announcement of Lowes closing Rona stores that that one survived. The same for the Rona in Austin Heights, I would have thought one would have been closing, anytime I have been in there it's been really dead.

Exciting to see this one getting up there.

Edmonds Station isn't a million miles away - it's all of 1km away. You can walk to it in just under 15 mins and there's a bus at least every 10 mins during the day.

Funny how further away from Edmonds Stn you get a urban environment with Kings Crossing, HighGate, Esprit towers, then right at the skytrian you get the quiet "City in the Park"

SouthGate looks to be envisioned as a Hybrid of the above mentioned two, but methinks it will turn out much more city in the park, rather than urban
