Per a Penn news release yesterday, at least a portion--if not all--of the upper floors of this will be occupied by a new Center for Advanced Cellular Therapeutics:
The University of Pennsylvania, as part of its partnership with Novartis, has unveiled plans to build what it's describing as a “first-of-its-kind” Center for Advanced Cellular Therapeutics on its University City campus.
The 30,000-square-foot center — which is expected to employ 100 “highly specialized” biomedical researchers — will focus on discovering, developing and manufacturing personal cellular cancer therapies that have the ability to hunt and destroy cancer cells. It will be located at 34th and Civic Center Boulevard, on top of the now-existing Jordan Medical Education Center.
The creation of the Center for Advanced Cellular Therapeutics will be funded in part through a $20 million investment from Novartis. It will be constructed as part of a building plan for the rear of Penn’s Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine — atop of the eight-story Jordan Medical Education Center and south pavilion extension currently under construction. The Center for Advanced Cellular Therapeutics, expected to open in 2016, will adjoin the existing cancer therapeutics floor in the Smilow Center for Translational Research, allowing it to be fully integrated with Penn Medicine’s research and clinical operations.
They have reached the 5 Floors of steel for the expansion on the southern end. They have certainly picked up the past the past few days before today's rain.
I am curious to see the expansion of the glass facade on the eastern side.
**Also if interested, Nursing Recruitment for Penn Medicine has moved from Penn Tower. The exodus continues. The new parking garage at 3600 Civic Center is up to the 5th floor on the first section. Coming together like legos.
I'm fairly new here, and had bookmarked and browsed the Philadelphia thread almost exclusively. Today I came over to the general highrise thread and found this. I hadn't seen it before, and after triple checking I realized it isn't in the Philadelphia thread at all. Can someone tag it properly so that it shows up there as well?

^^Very true - I've noticed that as well.
Another article today on the Penn folks and the CAR Therapy which will be housed in this building. (hopefully I'm not ripped again for supporting Penn Med/CHOP!).
