Antigonish KFC closed today as well.

Very sudden. Staff had no real notice. Not cool for the employees.

A new Turkish/Mediterranean restaurant is opening soon in the former Fid space on Dresden Row.

The Cellar reopened in its original location recently.

You are correct. With the changes that area has seen in the last few years I would imagine it won't be long before we see some proposals.

I dunno. The former strip club on the corner there has been for sale for years with no takers. They even tried burning it down a few months ago with no luck. The area is slowly improving with the new Sobeys/NSLC and the building on the corner of Boland and Wyse but it is still pretty rough.

That Neighbourhood so easily be improved, with some simple developments

I agree... that whole area has a lot of potential for improvement and growth, but it has been allowed to slide for a long time so I think the turnaround would be slow. Still a lot of crime in the area, too.

I'd love to see the whole Wyse/Windmill area be developed and improved someday in my lifetime.

That huge empty lot on Wyse next to the bridge, if that would be developed that could provide some impetus.

I seem to remember from the District 5 election debates that there's at least a proposal for that lot floating around in the ether. IIRC from the citizens asking very pointed questions of candidates, the height being bandied around was 24 floors.

That whole Wyse corridor needs towers and density. I find living in Downtown Dartmouth that the Dartmouth Commons simply cuts off that area of what is essentially downtown. If there was more density past the commons it would make for a more vibrant Dartmouth.

That lot is owned by a fast-food magnate from PEI. Word was he was planning to build a Super 8 motel on the site.

Lion and Bright cafe and wine bar opened today on Agricola, smack dab between the Brasserie and En Vie. It's now officially a restaurant row.

Field Guide's menu changes daily and can be hit and miss, but I've been there twice and really enjoyed my meal both times. They're also consistently busy - every seat in the restaurant seems to be taken until at least 10 every night - and seem to have a devout following already.

Agricola Street Brasserie is really impressive, on all levels - the space is gorgeous and big, the service is well done and the food I've had is great.

Agreed - money well spent on the space, and I've experienced great attention to detail on my three visits. I've heard second hand that other people were subjected to poor performance from the staff, but that was not my experience.

I'm hopeful that all that overhead - they bought the building, spent a mint renovating it, hired up a fairly large staff, and have a lot of floor area - won't result in crazy prices just to keep open. The meals I've had were pretty well priced - I feel I received good value and definitely recommend it.

Yeah - no beef heart when I was there.
My experience (only been once...): drinks were OUTSTANDING, food was boring and expensive

Thanks for the info, Keith. That one is on my list to try out.

I really like what is happening in that area now.
