Massive fricking hole but it doesn't look like they are digging under where the 33 story tower on this lot is supposed to be, just under the midrise L shaped building.

I was trying to ascertain this last night while walking by. You might be right, but that's an awfully big hole for the single smaller building. With any luck they will dig out towards St. Redempteur and excavate for both the shorter tower and the first 33 fl.

Does anyone know if Gatineau/ Hull have an Official Plan showing how they want to plan and design the city (and have CAD files available to use)? I've been curious about going for a walk around Hull and the area on the West side and thinking about what could be done to redevelopment and urbanize Hull.

Here is the report from last year on downtown Gatineau, so... Hull; and the plan for the foundry area. But like the great majority of post from the city, it's in french.

Base slab is complete.

It still makes no sense to me that they didn't excavate for the taller tower at the same time. I can only assume there will be a substantial gap in the construction timeline? Perhaps they will jump across the street instead?

I will laugh if the immediately begin digging upon substantial completion. It looks like a fair amount of bedrock based on the opposite wall.

The website makes no sense, it says the 2nd phase will have 37k sqft of retail for the grocery store and the pharmacy, but those are on the ground floor of the current phase. Then it also says the 2nd phase will have 12k sqft of retail? I think someone got confused with the fact that it's phase 1 of WE 2...

I'm alright with 26 stories as a consolation prize here for one or both of the taller towers. It/they should still be the third tallest building(s) in Gatineau and the tallest built since the 1970's. Plus, 33 story towers would be very close in height to Terrasses de la Chaudiere across the street. 26 stories would be a nice step down and add dimension to this part of the skyline.

Even better would be 26 stories for one of the taller towers and 33 for the other.

What I read is 26 stories, residential 1 story retail (grocery) 1 story commercial(office?). This makes at least 28 stories. This leaves a floor for amenities and mechanical penthouse up for conjecture for additional stories.
