Awesome! however with verdiroc involved...

Ill hope for the best I guess...It looks like a high quality development, and underground parking is always a plus...also if it ended up being this large I'm sure Rogers would need a parking garage

Since Oulton's is now moving to their new campus near the YMCA, I wonder if their old property will be a component of this development as well?

I like this design a lot. It would fit in just fine with the rest of the buildings along Assomption. It would also hide the blight that is the Rogers building from view except for Westmorland between the market and the courthouse. I actually rather like the idea of having a riverfront boulevard lined with 4-5 story buildings opposite a park.

Though as has already been stated, I'm not going to get excited about anything until I see shovels in the ground.

It will be a new Restaurant/Piano Bar at 40 Weldon . "Sirocco" Mediterranean Fusion cuisine.

Anyways, that's just the previous rendering. The articles says that the current proposal consists of two possible options which still have not been released.

Rogers Call Centre employees assured of parking

The end of a parking lease deal between City of Moncton and a developer will not affect parking spaces for Rogers employees

MONCTON, NB - Downtown employees at the Rogers Call Centre in Moncton can rest assured they will have parking for years to come.

The City of Moncton has ended a parking deal with the developers at the corner of Westmorland Street and Assomption Boulevard.

But Rogers Communications Atlantic Regional President Ken Marshall says call centre employees have nothing to worry about.

"They are going to continue to have parking tomorrow and the day after and for years to come as a result of the agreement that we have with our developer. It may not be in the exact same parking lot that we have today but it's going to be very close by," notes Marshall.

A spokesperson for one of the developers, Ashford Investments, says tentative plans for the site include an office building or residential complex.

Regardless, this red is attractive and is rather simple with which to contrast by planting trees -- especially evergreens in order to maintain this scheme in the winter.

I guess we'll see what other options come forward as new proposals are submitted. I certainly don't think it's unfortunate, however, that downtown Moncton's base colour is red.

Can you imagine if most downtown buildings were the colour of Assumption Place

Anybody who thinks closing Main Street won't be a major cluster wasn't downtown Friday afternoon when RCMP blocked off the streets surrounding the French Consulate at 777 Main.

A government building has been evacuated in downtown Moncton after police received reports of a suspicious package.

The building, located at 777 Main Street, houses the Consulate General of France.

The RCMP responded to the building around 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Police say barricades have been established at the intersections of Robinson and Main Streets, Alma and Main Streets, Queen and Church Streets, and Assomption Boulevard and Westmorland Street as a precaution.

The RCMP are encouraging motorists to avoid the downtown area while police investigate the incident.
