Ugh, sorry to sound like a snob, but I really dislike tilt-shift to this effect, especially when faked digitally.

It may just be the "fad" aspect of it that bothers me, though. I feel similarly about most HDR shots I see these days. While HDR can be done tastefully, most of the ones I see now just use too high a range and end up looking unrealistic and gaudy.

I agree. Something about the tilt shift just looks silly, same with the "minature" thing, which is very similar. Yeah, most HDR is overdone IMO but it can be done creatively.

^ And that's fine, I actually appreciate that you do this. You're welcome to post the photos, even to praise them. I'm just not a fan of these two particular "fad effects" that I see so often all over the internet, and just felt like sharing my photosnobbiness.

I sort of like HDR for its tackiness. It's like a black velvet Elvis of a photograph. The above photo is my first attempt, and I am still unsure how much I like it, which is why I didn't post it here myself. Not that I mind, feepa...

As for tilt-shift, I love the 'modelization' effect, but find the top and bottom unfocused bars distracting.
