Currently a rezoning, but it would be in anticipation of someone building 2 buildings, as shown, as opposed to one building, as was previously allowed.

Looks great, but sure contrasts with the other buildings in the area.

I think the perforated steel cladding industrial look is over-done here, and some contrast is very much welcomed.

Yeah, I drove past this morning and hadn't realized how much Canvas blends with the older live-work lofts across the street on the south side - i.e. corrugated steel siding.

Thanks for the heads up. After reading through the development application, I think this is going to be a quality development. The plans for improving the Central Valley Greenway through the area look good too. Also nice to see that the planned St. George Plaza is a part of this.

Here is the development application:

With so much new development and investment I feel this is going to be the next up and coming area.

It's almost an extension of what's going on near Olympic Village, you just have to get across Main St.

Post I made in the Pedestrian/Cycling thread:

You can see the changes from the current "mixed-use" pathway that currently runs along the north side of Great Northern Way. Also note where the CVG diverts through the plaza. This was planned in the area framework, and will eventually provide for a straighter/flatter connection to the CVG on 1st avenue.

All the trees in that front lot were taken out today (much to the dismay of my coworkers).

The main Emily Carr building is finishing up work on the second floor, and already starting work on the 3rd floor.

Thanks for the pics. Does it bother anyone that on the second last pic the balcony side railings are in front of the window's glass and not on the edge?

Juliet balcony? Doesn't bother me. What bothers me are the random yellow panelling with the apparent intention of adding interest to an otherwise bland building with cheap material.
