That port is jaw dropping to say the least. Are you using real company names for this city (?), because I noticed 'Hanjin' at the port, which is a real container shipping company.

The city itslef is a real gem. Very clean, clear, and neat.

Keep up the good work!

The port is very detailed. Nice job.

I don't like the texture on the new building. Constant horizontal windows don't fit that buildings style. Something with individual rectangular windows following a more vertical pattern would be the best, just like the smaller historical building infront of it.

Thanks guys!
Dac: Yes indeed I plan this city to be an important intl commerce port! You were loooking at the Asian part of the harbor with Hanjin, Global Enterprises, China Shippin Co. and Dongbu (korean). On the other pier I'll have companies such as Hamburg Süd and Maersk Sealand.

The whole port project is part of the "Gudbai Ports World Group" and so is the "Burj Al-Kaffir" I'm making.

So, I'm using both real and mock companies for the city just as I'm uising textures and hand made colouring.

Peter: I know that texture is very wrong but I just wanted to render it fast. It looks quiet better untextured. still finding one that fits. The one of the LP hotel is just too Belle Èpoque.

-Ah, I see. This is going to be a huge port. I'm really excited to see the finished product.

-You should also have terminals for: MOL, Evergreen, Cosoco, & K Line. They, in addition to Maersk, Hanjin, & Hamburg Sud are very 'big hitters' in the container shipping industry.

Yes! Evergreen and P&O! I forget! Cosoco is actually China Shipping Co. And K Line for some Jap presence.
Can you think of any American companies?

The only two I know of are Star Shipping and Horizon Lines. There is also APL (managed by the U.S., owned by Singapore).

Thanks, I'll go with some of them. I'll have to get APL, after all Singapore was part of my inspiration.

Wow! That is quite big. Do you plan on filling all of that?

I love the size of the port. Have you expanded on it since the last update?

I'm really impressed with that plan, and most of all with the port. It really looks fantastic.

That is a massive layout! I like it a lot, but I don't believe the downtown is in an ideal location if the only way to access it is by means of where the peninsula meets the mainland. Any bridges would have an unrealistically long span to reach the peninsula and that goes for tunnels as well. I'm sure you will figure something out. This is one cool city so far.

Actually the epicenter of the city, will be north of the mega mall way in mainland.
I thouhgt making lots of parking buildings in the neck of the peninsula and tunnels towards underground parking lots along the main road.

Good time to confess I drew this map from a real city, a summer only resort in Uruguay, Punta del Este (34º 58'S 54º 57'W)

The tallest building of Punta is 50 stories I think. Mulligan would be a free trade area with a -big- seaport and perhaps capital of a Mercosur that includes Chile and excludes Venezuela) and with a huge floating international population that will need seafront condos

Well, there could be a tunnel running along the waterfront. That's realistic. Then it either moves up eventually becoming a wide road or you can make it turn to the island near the port and you can have some mega-cruise ship terminal. And maybe a 30 story hotel in the island too. But make it as far as possible from the oil terminal because a) it can be dangerous and b) more people will visit because there's a better ocean and downtown view.

The unrealistic long span of the two bridges right now is 2900 ft This is an aproximate lay out of the roads and bridges

i did this building yesterday when Günther opened a club and a bank account in Mulligan. There's a lot of detail to be work on.

That second shot is really cool. It reminds me of Lower Manhattan.

I like the highway network you have created for the city. I would suggest though scrapping the bridges and building tunnels. Not so much because of the span, but because they cut right through the port. In practical terms, it would be more safe to have a tunnels. Tunnels wouls also make ship traffic less hectic.

thanks, i plan on building more - older - lo rises in the peninsula, and a lot more 70s boxes too. Then the Residential beach to the northeast will be strictly post 90s.

Yeah I havent actually laid out the harbour yet other than for the pics. I plan on having one bridge to connect the island to mainland in the north-east and a tunnel and a breakwater in the south

Yeah, it'd bet better to make mostly tunnels. Take the bridges out and make tunnels. And that long freeway running through the High-rise Residential Area should be made into a tunnel too. Yup. That last picture sure does look great and Bauen is still my favorite in the city.

i began the beachfront residential area, so now there'll be three major districts in the city, port-airport-industrial-laboratorial; financial peninsula; beachfront residential.

The idle middle of the three will be the home of the mandatory supermall, stadiums, gov buildings, and inner city.

Beachfront
