I took this today from my apartment and it clearly shows the end of the elevator shafts that OfficeDweller was talking about.

from the Vancouver westside, it appears that the building is now the tallest in the skyline.

Is that a change in floorplate on the angled side near the top?

I wouldn't think so... just the way the angles screw around with your perception... or something like that.

because those setbacks along the angled side are around a 3rd of the way back, and the fact that you are looking at the angled side pretty much flush, the balcony (what I am talking about) appears lower than the corner of its respective floor.

if you look at GoogleEarth and zero in on the site you'll see an old image, but if you click on the Camera icon you can see a nice pic of the Holographic squares on the side of the tower.

someone ought to send GoogleEarth an updated photo of the tower now!

I was at Robson and Burrard today and man is the Shangri-la going to look huge from that angle. It's already looking monstrous and there is quite a bit to go. I think it'll really give off more of a big city vibe with Shangri-la towering over the bustling Robson Street scene.

Here is the progress to date from what I could see today...

Red=currently topped at
Green=current floor being worked on

It shouldn't be anymore than a day or two before it goes up a floor... if it hasn't already at the time I'm typing this.

.
I was at Robson and Burrard on Sunday and I thought the same thing.It looks massive from that angle and just wait til it's all lit up with interior/exterior lighting as well as all those solar panels, in the future when tourists think of Vancouver they will think Shangrila!

What's going on with the Art Gallery on site? How will it differ from the present Art Gallery?

any idea how much the hotel rooms will cost? $ 2000/night?

Seeing the Shangri-la today I realized that I should've waited another day or two to do that progress pic. At least it only takes 2 seconds to do. Here is the current progress (one floor higher).

Judging by the panel spacing of the roof fin on the right, there is the equivalent height of 12 storeys to go (including the green floor) - but of course less than that in actual storeys.

Red=currently topped at
Green=current floor being worked on

Anyone else notice that the windows look very dirty? Is this just due to the fact that they haven't been cleaned? Or this a representation of the final product?
