Freed Hotel & Residences | 219m | 63s | Freed | AS + GG l sales

Some new images and news.

Freed is collaborating with sbe on the dining/event component of the 5 star hotel. The tower is estimated to cost $800 million.

UT

Amazing space inside the tower’s crown. The tower is designed by AS+GG who also designed 160 Front West/TD Terrace with its unique crown. The crown includes a "62nd floor Sky Lobby with grand staircase leading to 63rd floor restaurant and bar featuring 70 ft tall space below a sloping skylight, boutique spa, terrace and outdoor garden."

UT

Artist Takashi Murakami (seen below) will have his artwork called "Together with the Flower Parent and Child" featured in the lobby.

The Entertainment District could use a few non flat roofed towers in the mix.

619 Yonge | 237.99m | 70s | YI Developments | Core Architects l pre-construction

Height increased from 57 storeys to 70 storeys (238 metres) with a simplified tower envelope and an unusual mech penthouse design.

^ The overall form is fairly nice and clean but yeah that roof element is odd. It won't be very visible from the street, but...

The little protruding section of around 15 floors at the bottom also kind of annoys me. But oh well I'll take it!

All these renditions on Yonge keep getting taller and taller. Next one for the Chelsea Hotel will push it over 300 metres

The painted on pattern irks me more than the penthouse. May as well add that density providing barnacle facing Yonge.

Here's another one that grew again:

83 Bloor West | 269.05m | 82s | Parallax | Arcadis l pre-construction

This started at 72 storeys, was bumped to 80 and now submitted at 82 storeys. Now balcony-fied on at least one elevation. One of the 2 mechanical penthouse levels includes an indoor observation amenity.

It's true... never seems to end, after literally years. Some new talls are still being proposed, and older ones keep getting a height change.

I take a few seconds every couple of days to check out the new drawings and new buildings added in Canada. I don't know what percentage of Toronto drawings are revisions vs drawings for the newly added but, it's high.

135 Isabella | 236.17m | 69s | KingSett Capital | BDP Quadrangle l pre-construction

This one grew a bit and the podium on the west side was reduced from 8 storeys to 3 storeys to better transition to its low-rise neighbour.

This podium section below was reduced to 3 storeys.

That's a weird one. The houses shouldn't be there if this site is determined to be an appropriate site for a 69 storey ... oh baby ... tower. Hey, if you're gonna somehow transition a residential skyscraper to a house with a hipped roof and campanile than this would be how to do it.

137-141 Isabella Street | 231.55m | 69s | Pinedale | BDP Quadrangle l pre-construction

This makes 5 ‘scrapers on/near Isabella Street over 200 metres tall … nuts.

49 - 51 Yonge | 216.36m | 60s | SmartCentres | a—A l pre-construction

This one is moving forward… an agreement headed to council regarding the heritage building issues (what gets demo’d and what’s retained). Kinda suprised by the agreement. Some new images.

They're both beautiful. Yes the heritage building looks a bit awkward at the bottom and I'd rather they find a different site for it. But if they're determined to make it into a podium this is probably the best we can realistically hope for.

The best case is if the city said no to demolishing the heritage buildings. This is not progressing further than this zoning excerise. It's not going ahead with an office building beneath a skinny residential tower. The REIT has at least 30,000 proposed units they can build over this.

123 Edward | 189.05m | 59s | Crown Realty Partners | Turner Fleischer l pre-construction

Resubmitted shorter at 59 and 53 storeys and the 2 towers appear to be fused together now. Located just north of City Hall. A little better materials-wise ... but no-one wants these photo-bombing their snaps of City Hall. ;-)

Wow, tough sell on those apartments on the inside corner behind that office building.

The first version of 123 Edward was much better. Too bad.
