January 1st has already seen at least 15 violent deaths that have been reported, though seven of those appear to be gang-members killed by police.

Portland ended with 28 murders and 31 homicides overall; Vancouver with 15 murders.
I've gone back a few pages to quote this but yes, it is truly a monstrosity the year that El Salvador has had.

These are the confirmed numbers for the first 6 months of 2015 with full year projections after the YTD. These were annualized at the time, it's gotten worse like you said;

El Salvador was at 2,865 (5,730). Population: 6,369,224. Rate of: 44.98 (89.96).

Cities;

San Salvador was at 929 (1,858). Population: 1,830,123. Rate of: 50.76 (101.52).

Santa Ana was at 84 (168). Population: 267,150. Rate of: 31.44 (62.89).

San Miguel was at 96 (192). Population: 252,200. Rate of: 38.07 (76.13).

At the moment I can't remember where I got San Salvador's population from. It's close to the reality thats all I know, I'd quote the source if I could find it.

Quoting from the same page (about five back) and if you're still there, I have halfway-thru-2015 Tijuana numbers;

The Zona Metropolitana de Tijuana after 6 months was at 329 (658). Population: 1,938,597. Rate of: 16.97 (33.94).

Used the same YTD and annualized tactic as before. The Baja state government numbers were at 11 months when I last checked I haven't compiled them yet.

Last one for cities in the developing world (same process as earlier);

Rio de Janeiro was at 2,080 (4,160). Population: 12,932,417. Rate of: 16.08 (32.17).

Down from 2014 and 2013 which saw increases, but it's probably higher than 2012.

This is for the Mesoregion Metropolitana. It looks like the equivalent of a CSA in the United States and most indy sources rank Rio's urban population alone as closer to 13 million than 12. The Região Metropolitana population in total is about 12 million, a Brazilian Região Metropolitana is like an MSA.

Again, I can't find the source at the moment I know it's there.

This is why I prefer Canada, even the rise in Murder's is never as drastic. Last year Lethbridge had 6 (Very bad for just under 100,000). This year there are 0 so far so its back to normal, same goes for Thunder Bay, it has like 11 One Year I think. Last year back to Normal. & Both of their "bad years". Are better than most American Cities "Good Years" for murders.

Los Angeles as of 1/16/16

2016 - 8
2015 - 14
2014 - 7

Interesting comparison to Chicago.. Shooting victims

2016 - 37
2015 - 47
2014 - 33

228 already for Chicago is ridiculous!

Does anyone know where I can find legitimate numbers for Las Vegas? I have been searching and the only thing I can seem to find is their Crime Mapping tool which does not seem up to date at all. The total homicides it shows for all of 2015 are way too low to be legitimate.

EDIT: On the news tonight they said the baby was found with a mitten in it's mouth. I'm not sure how they'll move forward with the case, because they'll have to prove it was stuffed in there if they're seeking a murder charge. So far they haven't said that's what they're charging her with.

Two felony arrest warrants issued for Georgetown daycare baby death - 1/13

Just to expand on some of the numbers I posted a few days ago...

Rio de Janeiro (2013-2015);

2013 was @ 4,300. Population: 12.8M. Rate of: 33 (source: Cops)

or;

2013 was @ 4,000. Population: 12.8M. Rate of: 31 (Source: Hospitals)

Last two years (source is the cops, hospital data N/A at current time)

2014 was @ 4,600. Population: 12.9M. Rate of: 35

2015 was @ 4,200. Population: 12.9M. Rate of: 32 (subject to change)

The cops are nearly always higher than the hospitals where Rio is concerned with both sources going back 25 years. A queer discrepancy took place in 2010 when the mortuary data suddenly shot up whilst the police tally decreased significantly at the same time. That year the hospitals were higher and possibly the year after. Since then the police count has gone back ahead of the hospitals.

---------------------------------------

Salvadoran cities (2010-2015);

San Salvador;

2010 was @ 1,400. Population: 1.8M. Rate of: 75

2011 was @ 1,400. Population: 1.8M. Rate of: 79

2012 was @ 600. Population: 1.8M. Rate of: 34

2013 was @ 700. Population: 1.8M. Rate of: 41

2014 was @ 1,200. Population: 1.8M. Rate of: 64

2015 was @ 1,900. Population: 1.8M. Rate of: 102

------------

Santa Ana;

2010 was @ 200. Population: 0.3M. Rate of: 85

2011 was @ 300. Population: 0.3M. Rate of: 105

2012 was @ 100. Population: 0.3M. Rate of: 42

2013 was @ 100. Population: 0.3M. Rate of: 27

2014 was @ 100. Population: 0.3M. Rate of: 40

2015 was @ 200. Population: 0.3M. Rate of: 63

------------

San Miguel;

2010 was @ 200. Population: 0.2M. Rate of: 89

2011 was @ 200. Population: 0.2M. Rate of: 81

2012 was @ 100. Population: 0.2M. Rate of: 40

2013 was @ 100. Population: 0.2M. Rate of: 33

2014 was @ 100. Population: 0.2M. Rate of: 36

2015 was @ 200. Population: 0.3M. Rate of: 76

Unconfirmed tallies in italics. Rounded numbers, thought i'd try something different.

Seattle has at least five murders so far this year, which is a lot higher than usual. Vancouver is still at zero, but the upscale suburb of North Vancouver actually has one. It's unusual for North Vancouver to have more murders than the city to its south. Portland remains at zero so far, I believe.

Exclamation

I started a new thread starting with the 2016 posts since the old thread hit the threshold of 10,000 posts a while ago.

I posted a link to the original thread in the first post of this thread.
