It’s a pretty lame design, but anything works in most US cities outside of New York and to a lesser degree, Chicago. If this were the design for 2 WTC, the Grand Hyatt site, 36 CPS, 15 Penn, etc., people would go utterly ballistic. In a place like Cleveland, though, people are elated to get a new tower. Moreover, I guarantee that this building was reported by every Cleveland television news channel and paper.
For that matter, Charlotte, Atlanta, Nashville, etc. were vying to have SW relocate to their downtowns, and had it, those cities would have hailed it as a validation that they’re now important, “real cities.” They also would have gone bananas over this tower.
