Was only in the building touring for some potential event space, although I assume if you go in and go up to the 6th floor, you can walk to the end of the hallway and get the same view. This was taken from inside one of their available conference rooms.

It is fairly close. The North elevator core has topped out. There is an additional level being added on the South core for the additional lobby/lounge space.

I think there is only 1 or 2 more concrete floors to be poured with steel being used for the roof/crown.

Does anyone else on this forum feel like I do that the CCH has completely changed the dynamics of the west side of downtown because it looms so large and tall and is so much larger than anything around it. Im loving the way it looks, so sleek and tall.

This is a very nice photo. The city has said that it wants a pyramid shaped dynamic to the CBD. From what has been developed thus far, it does not seem to be a realistic concept as many of the buildings on Main are too short for that effect. What we have is a flat skyline. Astra will help, but only slightly.

I could assume that the pyramid dynamic might occur, but with the apex, or maximum height moving much further to the south and west.

There are still a few missing teeth on Main between 1st and 3rd. Well, either missing completely like the corner of 1st So. and Main or some of the areas that have non-descript low rises that were perhaps once nice Italianates but have since been demoed and turned into 50's crap. Also, the East-West corridors have a lot of potential still, which would help to give that pyramid effect from the north and south views. Personally, I would like to see some of the low-rise buildings on State like the Federal Reserve and that ugly bank on the southeast corner of 3rd and State replaced by tall sexy new designs. State and West Temple could help with a pyramid view yet if it's from the East or West. We probably could use at least 3 or 4 new tallest on Main to give that apex effect from the north and south.

Ha, I guess time will tell. It looks like we're going to have a pretty good idea of the skyline shape between No. Temple and 6th south by the time 2030 rolls around. Even if the economy is in for a bumpy ride the Wasatch Front seems to be one of a handful of places where a lot of people are moving to. The rougher things have gotten since 2008 in many large markets the more The Wasatch Front seems to thrive.

Honestly, I'm kind of floored that some of these projects that had already been designed are coming back as taller and more elaborate. It seems like it has only been a few months ago that we were just expecting towers to be value stripped and shortened.

Actually, if the worst-case scenario were that the apex was moved further south that would be very cool. We could have a South or Downtown, a Midtown and an Uptown. Very cool!

Given the current and probable future supply pipeline chokepoints over the next year or two, we will probably be in for a lot of projects going up in slow motion. Ten years from now I would like to see Salt Lake's skyline shape resemble more Seattle vs. say Austin or Denver. I mean, they're all great but Seattle's is the prettiest shape to emulate IMHO.

I was just looking at ucsbgaucho's image and it got me thinking about the next 12 months.

Earlier this year, we had 7 tower cranes working on Highrise/Tower projects active in the Downtown area:

95 S
Liberty Sky
255 S State
2 at the CCH
2 for Phase 1 of West Quarter (Block 67)

If everything moves as it currently looks, we will should see the following:

255 S State
Convexity Tower
Astra
3+ for Phase 2 of West Quarter (Block 67)
Main Street Tower (Utah Theater)
Dominion Tower (NW Corner of 4th South and West Temple) - can't remember the official name.

So this gets us at least 8 tower cranes working on Highrise/Tower projects in the sky by the end of 2022.

Here is where it gets interesting. There will be at least 4, 30+ story buildings going up at the same time. Convexity Tower, Astra, West Quarter, and Main Street Tower. Additionally, these 4 are all primarily Residential.

These next couple of years will have a dramatic impact to the overall skyline as well as to the overall feel of the Downtown area.

Where are we at with the sundial project? How long until we can expect to start seeing ground work there?

Where are we at with the project on the NW corner of West Temple & 4th south? How long until we can expect to start seeing ground work at that one?

What’s the latest with the Main Street apartments? With their legal hurdles. How long until we can expect to start seeing demolition there?

When will we see groundbreaking/demolition work for phase 2 of west quarter?

What’s the latest news with the arrowhead press site? (Sorry, can’t remember exactly what that one is called…)

Someone can correct me here but I think the plan is for work to begin on Sundial and the residential building on the corner around August or September of 2022. The 2 projects are planned to be built at the same time.

No idea what the timeline is, (assuming it won't be in the next 12 months), but there's also the Regent Street tower that appears to be around that 30 story range. Downtown is clearly going through a major transformation!
