The circular/round balconies going up will really add a nice touch to this tower. It'll definitely be the most intriguing condo tower design in Ottawa for sure (probably followed by SoBa right now).

Look at the second rendering on Page 1 of this thread. It appears to be the start of a vertical contour. Interesting, thanks for pointing that out!

Classic Claridge bait & switch? We all knew this was going to be too good to be true and that they would end up cheapening on the tower and that it wouldn't look as good. Well, I think I just found a new or updated render on their website.

I feel like the light has a lot more effect between the two renders than any element of the building.

It's not just the light. The glazing and cladding are cheapened and simplified in the second render, as always happens on a Claridge project.

Why we allow any Claridge design to be rubber stamped is beyond me. Have they built anything of positive note recently?

I bet you if you looked at the diameter of the round corner, you'd find that it exactly matches Claridge Plaza.

Whew! I was worried they weren't going to be able to incorporate the leftover spandrel panels from the warehouse!! lol

Also, smaller sheets of glass are less expensive than large sheets of glass. Hence the switch.

I never understand why Claridge bothers to update their renders into a more-and-more detailed, lifelike accuracy as time goes on (see-concrete formwork on balconies)

I still think TriBeCa was a successful build. After a long battle, they were given approval to build at the maximum height, the two towers have different and distinctive designs, the podium's interaction with the street and use (grocery store) adds a lot to the area.

Completely agree. That area was completely revitalized. Across the street, Bell Tower is now adding ground floor retail to that corner (all along Nepean and Glocester).

It's a great sign of things to come.

The difference still seems pretty minimal. I'll withhold judgement until I can actually look at it

I agree that it is pretty minimal. What most people don't understand who are not in the development industry is that value engineering is very common after initial plans, renderings, & concepts are released. Cost savings are always the number one priority in any project. Relax everyone, this building will look just fine after completion.

It is going up pretty fast, I think it was about to hit 10 floors when viewing it on Apr 30th (went to Pub Italia with my family for my 40th birthday, after spending the weekend at the Chateau Laurier with my wife).

I indicated to my kids that it will be, for now, the tallest building ever in Ottawa when its done, until taller projects closeby, as well as bayview area happen...

This is almost the size of the Mizrahi development in Westboro. Imagine this at the corner of Wellington West and Island Park.
