The support brackets were pretty well spaced in earlier pics.

Strange that they centred the signs over the doorways, rather than in the centre of the bay between pilasters.

Everyone loves the heritage portion, but no one seems to mention about the new tower anymore.

I love how Lindt comes to this corner: very fitting.

Because the entire page has been pictures of the old building...

The tower is now officially open:
(opened yesterday, Nov. 9, 2017)

The main lobby looks a bit sparse (needs a wall sculpture).

Opening of New Landmark Office Building The Exchange in Vancouver
...
At a joint news conference with Vancouver's Mayor Gregor Robertson, the development team celebrated the opening of the 31-storey building, The Exchange, as Vancouver's tallest LEED® Platinum office tower and Canada's first LEED® Platinum heritage conversion with the restoration of the Old Stock Exchange building, which opened in 1929. The building ranks as Canada's eighth largest LEED® Platinum office project.
...
The Exchange will have half the energy load of a traditional office building, with a 35 percent reduction in energy costs and an 85 percent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.

With Vancouver's office market currently ranking the second tightest in North America, The Exchange is already almost two-thirds leased. Its anchor tenant, National Bank, is the second oldest and sixth largest bank in Canada. It is globally ranked as one of the Top 20 most sustainable financial institutions. National Bank will occupy 45,000 square feet of The Exchange.

Executive Hotels will operate a luxury boutique hotel in the heritage portion of the building, while a Vancouver accounting firm, Smythe LLP, and a fintech company, HyperWallet Systems, will occupy a total of 50,500 square feet. Swiss chocolatier Lindt has a retail store on the ground level, and Sovereign General Insurance recently signed a lease.

I guess LEED comes with miniscule ceiling lights.
Cue the task lamps!

The suspended tube looks out of place - like a construction lamp.

Those ceilings are going to be a nightmare to build out, not to mentioned expensive.

But I guess when you're leasing AAA, little extra cost is to be expected.

Maybe that floor is finished for an open concept office tenant and isn't a base finish.

I'm trying to figure out why the glass on that one floor looks different then the rest.

The tower is elegant and the engraved name on the pillars is a nice touch. The wavey pattern on the ground is great (reminds me of Time-Life Building in NYC). The Lindt store is beautiful. The whole project is well-done -- a rarity in Vancouver.

Agreed. Have liked this tower from its concept. A model tower for integrating new with historic.

I think it's floor 11 and half of it is dedicated to a mechanical room.

either lighting hidden in the crow moulding, if it fit, or some historic/matching style chandeliers would have been better then that tube.

Drove past last night, the tower looked incredible, each floor evenly lit, all the way to the top, it's transformed that stretch of Pender!! Also nice to finally have that lane of Pender opened to vehicles again!

Yes, that tube is ugly, but perhaps only temporary. Let's hope enough complaints from the public and office building workers might make that difference; (historic-styled chandeliers: YES!)
Additionally, that elegant Cartier store across the street with those curved arch windows lend to Howe Street a big city-feel, uncontrived, that just 'happened'; unlike other 'fashion' streets.
