Size isn't everything ... (er, well, sometimes it is, but that's another issue, er...)
What I mean, seriously, is that The Bow is indeed a MAGNIFICENT building, and stands out boldly on the undulating high prairie Calgary Skyline.

But would a building THAT big look right in downtown Vancouver? Beautiful and Magnificent as The Bow is- and it is - it would somehow overpower everything here and thus put the symmetry of the Vancouver CBD out of whack totally, IMHO.

There isn't even a slight reflection of you or anything else in the room with that pic. Not only that but the window washers at the TD building are obviously on their game too because the windows are so clear this shot looks like it could have been taken outside.

Still five more floors to go? Then the glass cladding .... this is going to be THE centrepiece of the cbd for quite some time, I think. Height, density, pizazz ..... I'm full of anticipation, even from across the planet.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I gather this will be Vancouver (and BC)'s second tallest when completed?

Could have been the time of day - less light bouncing around. I don't even think I turned off the boardroom lights for that shot (and it was just with the pocket camera (Pentax Optio))

********
I was thinking there were just 3 floors to go. i.e. 10 floors above the "kink" where the facade angles inwards.

Please and Thank you.

Thanks.

You can really see in those shots how the upper balconies poke out farther and counter the angling back of the facade.

But if you look closely on the renders, there appears to be 11 floors above the bend. Thus, if the renders are correct, there are 4 floors to go, plus a 3-floor-high roof feature. So, in effect, there are 7 more floors to go, height wise.

It looks like the pre-cast is being installed today on the Howe Street facade - my photo:

They started yesterday, and are making good progress upwards. You may not be able to tell in that photo, but the lobby glass on Howe Street facade has been installed too. You may also see that there are tabs installed on the masonry wall all the way up that will be used to attach an extension of the horizontal grille between each floor by another meter.

I agree. Anything to minimize the readability of the secondary geometries. I already resent the fact that there's multiple "pieces" of tower being mashed together. They really should have tucked back the non-sloped parts of the tower to bring out the sloped part.
