Has anyone heard any information regarding 91 King? As far as I'm aware not a word of information has been made public since the exchange in ownership back in November. I understand large scale projects take time but based off of my observations very little care is being done for the building. (Ex. the broken out window facing Charlotte street and door on the roof that's been open forever)

91 King

Unfortunately nothing has happened and I doubt we will ever see it developed by the current owners (shell company). I expect that the City will have to eat the demolition costs and someone will then pick up the lot.

You would think the city would demand for it to be cleaned up etc, it is one hell of a dirty eyesore! SHAME ON THE OWNERS!

I wish this idea of a casino in the Uptown would die already, particularly if Fundy Quay land is going to be used for one.

Fundy Quay - underground parking? I think you're asking for trouble.

If underground parking works at Market Square, then it seems reasonable for it to work at Fundy Quay as well.

Anyone know anything about the poles about to be installed along the Courtenay Bay causeway? They're about ready to go up, and they've been working over the last few days to bury conduit from the feet of the first 2 poles under the rail line behind the Telegraph-Journal building...

I'm wondering if this is related to the fact that NB Power recently re-acquired Bayside Power? Maybe a new interconnect between the plant and Saint John Energy, or something? Looks like maybe it's going to patch in to that little substation next to the rail overpass.

Some things I noticed driving last night On the Vine on Loch Lomond road has been put in a large expansion in the back. There's construction across the street from Tim Hortons on Loch Lomond and I noticed some excavators sitting the vacant lot across from MacDonalds North. I didn't hear any news on these lots, does anyone know what's happening?

On the Vine is not expanding ,they are building a new building and tearing the old one down.

I suppose one could technically call it an expansion if the new building is larger!

I found the final item of today's federal funding announcement to be of particular interest.

This opens up a new waterfront lot that along with its neighbouring parking lot creates a significant development opportunity between Smythe Street and Harbour Passage:

There is a bit of complexity in terms of the ownership situation, however. The area hashed in blue above actually sits on Port property (the rest of the site is either City-owned or public right-of-way). Hopefully an agreement can be struck to acquire that bit of parking lot from the port, as it is landlocked and has no apparent operational possibilities for them, while its consolidation with the rest of the site would make for a much larger and more attractive development parcel.

The entire area shown above, including the Red Rose surface parking lots, would do well to evolve toward higher and better uses.

Maybe this is the reason for the new line being installed on the Courtenay Bay causeway – to take up for the Smythe St. substation while it's out of commission for relocation.

Will be nice to see that substation moved but I can't help but imagine the lot immediately becomes surface parking for a few years until a development proposal can be created.

The substation lot at least makes more practical sense to develop than any of the others given its near connection to the other developments on the boardwalk.
