I don't think there's quite enough glass for me to form a solid opinion on it, but I don't really like it that much. It doesn't seem very reflective, and while I know there's some limits on reflectivity on lakefront properties, I think a building with this many curves deserves some good reflections.

Do we know if they're using the same glass for the curved portion and the step portions? It always seemed to me like they wanted the curved portion to really stand out, of course. I wonder if it will create a different visual effect.

Drove past this on Cesar Chavez yesterday and it's hard to overstate how huge this thing feels. Very bulky, not very sail like -- but obv we're nowhere near done so I'm not making any firm pronouncements.

The glass facade on the lake-facing portion is interesting -- not just individual panes, but also small overhead shelves/shades over each one. Lots of texture. It really pushes against the idea that the facade is a single sheet of glass. That doesn't describe what we might see on the "billowing" west-facing side of the sail -- that may still be a more uniform surface. But worth noting that other sides aren't going that route.

Even though the height isn't anything special, the size and shape of this is really going to dominate the first tier of our skyline.

Still doesn't seem like it'll look anywhere as majestic as the renderings. Hope I'm proven wrong though.

Umm.. what?

I think it's looking overwhelmingly bigger than the renderings already.

vs.

I mean I'll wait a bit more to see what emerges, but so far it doesn't seem to be taking the shape of the renderings. Specifically, where's the "curve"?

It hasn't been built yet. It's a curtain wall that hasn't been added to the west side of the tower.

well, from that angle there is no curve in the design. If I could figure out how to post my own photos, I would It's very prominent head on from aud shores.

....Plus, this building isn't even halfway done? lol. I think it will be absolutely gorgeous--if anything does mess with the design it the other 3 400ft buildings surrounding it!

You can try to do this, look at how much of the building has been constructed, then cover the rendering and only show the part that's been constructed. Can you see a curve? It's probably tough, because most of the curve happens at the top half.

Almost seems too obvious, but these are from very different angles. The rendering is looking at the South (terraced) and West (where the curve is) faces, where as the photo is looking at the South (up to the second terrace) and East (no curve) face.

This rendering provides an idea of how the curve will be constructed.

About 16-18 more floors until it "tops off"?
