That will create an interesting contrast between the white facade and the green canopy of the trees outside.
It will be quite difficult to remove graffiti from the mesh.

Forget mesh. Give me windows that roll up and down with the push of a button. Down on nice days. Up on hot or rainy days. A/C when windows are up.

Someone else pony up the cash.

The natural beauty of the Waller Cess Pool in that particular area is greatly exaggerated in those renderings.

I would be totally in love with this if it would look anything like it's pictured. It will be "interesting" to see what actually happens. It's possible that they'd have high motivation to keep it in top shape, aesthetically speaking, and I'm sure there's going to be a lot of lovely new landscaping to improve the surroundings, so this might not be as far from reality as the snarks are suggesting.

Interesting Structure

[IMG]https://www.dropbox.com/home/Fairmon...o+20160402.pdf[IMG]

There are some HUGE beams at the 8th floor level that will make the transition in the shape of the building. If you zoom in you'll notice that these beams have few vertical supports.

(My first attempt t posting an image. Please send a reply if the link doesn't work.)

It didn't work. Try uploading the image to www.imgur.com It's free. Then copy the direct link after it uploads. It'll be on the right of the screen and start with http://i.imgur.com.....

Past that link here between the [IMG] [/IMG] tags.

Also, the file you have looks to be a PDF, not an image. I usually screenshot the picture in the PDF, or use the snipping tool, then save that as a .jpg or .png. Then upload that file to imgur.

I had a question. We're usually able to find the building elevations for projects online on the city's website. I haven't been able to find them for this building. Do you know why? Are there any plans to make them public eventually?

I don't live in Austin so I can't say what is up with their agencies.

Those are great photos Keith. Thank you for posting them.

The truss that's in place in the first photo spans 120ft and will help support the weight of the upper Ballroom on level 5. There is another set of trusses at level 7 that support the outside amenity area including the swimming pool.

Looks like the curtainwall installer has been quite busy the past couple weeks.

Interesting that the glass panes are different widths. I wonder if its for aesthetics or some sort of function, like view from the room layout? Either way, it looks nice.

It's another one of those open patches in the city where a good sized building can completely change the feeling of the skyline. I drive past this construction everyday and increasingly think it's going to be the anchor for a completely new district. IMHO, a lot more development will follow.

The different glass widths are purely aesthetic. The wide panes (2 per typical room) are what a guest will look out of from their room. The three narrow panes will be covered on the inside with a gypsum board assembly. It doesn't show well in these cloudy day images but the three narrow panes are 2 colors. The darker stripe of the colors changes location within the the groups of three. I believe Gensler was trying to break up what will be huge glass walls with a bit of interest and rhythm. It looked good on the drawings anyway.
