Ya, I think it's one of the best to go up in the Entertainment District. Urban Capital I believe.

It's a nice building, but it's location makes it hard to appreciate. The ED is just chock full of underwhelming towers.

I feel differntly, I work across from it in the Entertainment one Building and I think the location is what drove it's design. Had it not been built there it would have most likely been another square tower at another location without it's cool podium.

I'd never seen it before till I went out west. I quite like them. It makes the street feel more intimate. I also like that they didn't just copy whatever the convention was in eastern Canada. That the Toronto subway changed their signage to look like NYC's subway makes me cringe. It would be nice if we could design something ourselves instead of aping other places.

Plenty of sideways signals in Quebec.

When did we change our TTC font to the same as NYC? I havent noticed a change. Also I believe Halifax has horizontal traffic signals as well.

Indeed. They're the standard across Quebec except for innermost Montreal and Quebec City IIRC. New Brunswick also uses them. They do stand out as very different from those in Ontario, though I am surprised isaidso who lives in Ontario (right next door to us) never saw them before going out West.

Not sure if it's identical to NYC but last time I was in Toronto a few months ago I did notice that the TTC subway signage definitely had a NYC-ish style to it. (That I hadn't noticed before.)

It looks nothing like it, the Toronto Subway (typeface)was created for the TTC during line one's construction in 1946 and hasn't changed in almost 73 years now.

Perhaps you are thinking of the circles used for Line numbers which do look similar to the circles used in NYC but so many transit systems use those. Like Montreal

It's one of the first things you notice crossing the border in Ottawa-Gatineau.

On one of the bridges, the Ontario side of the bridge looks like this:
https://www.google.com/maps/@45.4025...7i13312!8i6656

And the Quebec side, a couple hundred metres up, looks like this:

Another thing that I always noticed as a kid - the chevron signs in Quebec are a different colour. Red and white as opposed to orange and white in Ontario.

It's not really the fonts that I had in mind.

More like this type of stuff around Yonge-Dundas Square in particular.

Obviously it's not exactly the same but on some poles instead of the classic TTC red suitcase signs for the subway, you have S U B W A Y vertically on poles, kinda similar to the A N R 1 3 7 C E S 2 9 set-up in that picture from NYC.

Montreal actually doesn't. Its métro lines aren't even numbered. They're colour-coded. In all honesty they should be numbered in addition to being colour-coded.

Like where though? This is the standard subway entrance downtown. Some of them say "subway" (cause y'know, it is a subway), but they all feature the classic TTC logo:

Even in the more recently renovated or newly opened stations carry that over:

Would you say Gastown is a bit poorly maintained? I think they should maintain it better, it’s an important historical district

They use coloured circles though like NYC, and many, many other subways and metros. Which at some point as the metro expands will need to be numbered or lettered. Colour coding only works so well when you only need to use a few.

I don't really think this entrance looks like anything from somewhere else. It's pretty non descriptive. https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.65613...7i13312!8i6656
