Speaking of Lockhart Hall. It's crazy when you realize Moody Moore designed half the city. 305 Broadway is my preferred.

Seriously, give that list a scroll.

Yes, it was meant to be a compliment. Most of the U of W buildings have a good look across all the time periods.

I had labs in Lockhart hall, but looking at their website, I also noticed University College is one of theirs. I had classes in that building also. It is a very nice building also.

Sadly Centennial Hall, the heart of the campus and one-time modernist gem, has lost much of the openness of its original design and has been left to fall into disrepair.

Mitzi's for sale, as expected. $1.1 million. Hoping it gets rolled up into a redevelopment.

Who owns the lot where the Windsor Hotel used to be? Has it gone up for sale since the building burned down?

Maybe those can be amalgamated into a single lot for a bigger project?

I can't remember his name but it came up here a few months ago. I think he owns a ton of parking lots downtown...uh oh.

The only positive about that, is these are not parking lots and cannot be permitted to be parking lots.

I thought I remember something about the owner applying to have the Windsor site turned into a "Temporary" parking lot until development happens. The City put their big boy pants on and denied him.

Maybe I was dreaming.

^ The City of Winnipeg operates fully in the it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. So to get a parking lot, you just need to build the parking lot first. The City will ultimately relent, and maybe force you to add a few planters here or there, or maybe one of those hideous rock (gabion) fence.

The parking lot south of the Windsor building is on the same parcel as the hotel was. I assume they're still allowed to park on that lot. Over time, you bet they'll just creep north and park on the whole lot.

Does anyone know who owns the lot east of Mitzi's? Not the same parcel as the building.

There's 3 parcels of land on that side of the street if someone wanted to consolidate and propose a large development. Otherwise it could be split into 2 smaller ones, or just left as is and redevelop the Windsor at some point.

Sabino Tumillo and associates owned the building before it burnt down if I recall

Watch the city allow a parkade entrance on Garry, curb cut across the bike lane and install 16 new signs telling drivers not to go in the bike lane.

It seems like ages since any major building has been announced In Winnipeg. Not knocking the city, it is a great city, it just seems strange that everything has been so quiet.

Idk if you caught what trueviking posted the other day but there's some big stuff coming. Along with the hotel restarting, the massive new developments like Southwood Circle and the PP redevelopment coming, et al we're looking pretty good on the densification front. That said, a new tower announcement or two would be nice haha.
