I found these additional renders for Post Millenium I hadn't seen before on the architect's site (Preston Partnership, they also designed Centergy 2)

It shows the other side of the building

So after reading this article:

http://atlanta.curbed.com/archives/2014/...ity-market-is-opening-the-gates.php#more

And let me quote the first paragraph..

Quote:
Put your hardhat back in storage because starting today, you can walk around Ponce City Market without it. (Unless you just enjoy wearing it for fashion reasons.) After three years of construction, PCM was given the go ahead by the city to remove the gates and open 'er up.
I went over there today. The article is completely misleading. You can't walk around shit, except for that new building dancing goats is in. whoop dee doo. The actual city hall east building is completely and totally still closed off.

Put the champagne away.

Did you really rely on Curbed for accurate reporting? They opened up the gates to accomodate more parking for the tenants opening on the outparcel building.

Per PCM's website and press release/blog :

"…today. Monday August 25th. So you can walk hard-hat free around the property, shop Binders (who quietly opened their doors last week in our construction site!) take classes at General Assembly and drop your kids at Suzuki School in addition to grabbing your daily cup of coffee from Dancing Goats. Because they’re all open or opening in the next three weeks!"

They obtained a permit to open the "grounds" - to an extent but not necessarily the entire building. As office/residential tenants move in they will have a TCO or a temporary certificate of occupancy ensuring that the basic life-safety measures are in place for occupancy. Access will temporarily be closed off in areas as construction continues - including the BeltLine Plaza/parking deck while other parts of the building are being built-out over the next 6-12 months.

Beltline office building planned

The Beltline's first ground-up office building has a name, projected start date and several big blue panels! Developers expect to begin construction on "The Willoughby" in January and open the four-story complex about 10 months later. Snuggled up next to the Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark on dead-end Willoughby Way, the project clearly has a modern-day workforce — and Beltline users — in mind. Atop the building, a 3,800-square-foot rooftop "amenity deck" will have impressive skyline views and a bar/kitchenette for "tenant entertaining purposes," said Jason Eden of Cross-Town Realty, the project's marketers. What's more, each office suite will have two restrooms with showers. "Because of its proximity to the Beltline, we feel that many tenants may want to take advantage of the trail for exercise (and) recreation, or as means of travel to or from the office,"
At The Willoughby, suites will range from 2,000 square feet up to an entire floor of 15,000 square feet.

A potential option for Midtown Marta Station from this article: http://clatl.com/freshloaf/archives/2014...on-top-of-marta-rail-stations-yes-please

Also new renderings of Suntrust Park have emerged from CL as well:http://clatl.com/freshloaf/archives/2014/09/16/goodbye-turner-field-hello-suntrust-park

WOW ALL I CAN SAY IS ABOUT THAT MIDTOWN MARTA STATION IS ''''''''BEAUTIFUL'''''''

The Braves stadium looks like an updated and slick downgraded version of the Turner field and it looks very similar.

The new renderings are a vast difference from some original renderings I saw. I wonder if the Braves weren't happy with the design? These are very... subdued, very "traditional". It looks very similar to Turner Field - I suppose there's only so much you can do in designing a brick facade baseball stadium.

It looks like sky house buckhead has topped out. Also, it's hard to see in the background but it looks like three alliance center has made some progress on the foundation work.

I can't believe the Braves are moving from Turner Field to that. At least the Falcons are making a bold architectural statement.

Totally disagree, as an advid fan of baseball and baseball parks, and former architect, this stadium is MUCH better than Turner Field...this is a stadium that totally has character. Finally a baseball stadium that has a modern/vintage look.

3. Student housing one block north of Centergy 2
3.5. Yoo, which is moving at a snail's pace

It's been this way for a while...hoping some dirt turns on other projects soon.
There are a couple more on the Atlantic Station side and some smaller projects like the townhomes by Piedmont Park, but I agree... hopefully something big besides the student housing actually gets going. The few buildings that have been finished have filled up in no time.

Steelworks on 16th has been going at a snail's pace as well. They were supposed to start leasing last spring, so I suspect they intended to finish by the summer and blew their deadline.

Apartments planned by Atlanta Waterworks

Westplan Investors wants to develop new apartments beside the city of Atlanta Waterworks.

The real estate company is seeking a permit from the city of Atlanta to begin initial site work on the project at 1390 Northside Drive. The property is bordered by one of the Waterworks reservoirs.

Westplan would call the project Aspire Waterworks, according to the city of Atlanta. It could include as many as 160 units, say commercial real estate executives familiar with the project.

It's hard not to describe the new design/finish as anything more than an updated Turner Field. What exactly do you think constitutes character in the above renderings that isn't already present here:

The modern/vintage look has been done for decades—just look at the original, Camden Yards in Baltimore. To be honest, Turner Field looks classier and less garish then the renderings of the new field.

Remember though, that the point of the new stadium is not to outdo turner field, it's to move the braves closer to their fanbase. So essentially they are just moving turner field to Cobb. So when you say that it's just an updated version of turner field, you're sort of right because there's no need to do anything differently.

It's about filling up buildings while also watching per unit rent revenues. Too many cooks spoil the kitchen.

it might be off frame, but it looks like they scrapped the water feature for the new Braves Stadium.. if so, lame. that was one of the more exciting things about that potential design.. here is an older render

this new design is very, very much reminiscent of Turner Field

Northpark 100
The Sandy Springs City Council on July 15 unanimously voted to defer a vote on the Northpark 100 mixed-use development containing 500 apartment units in addition to a 50-floor office tower and hotel and retail space until September.
http://www.reporternewspapers.net/2014/0...vote-northpark-office-tower-development/

Anyone know when in this month the vote is? I'm curious to see the results because if this thing gets built, it would be one of the tallest buildings in the entire Atlanta area.
