I think both PCM and Buckhead Atlanta will be catalysts for their respective areas (duh!), and I predict huge success for both.

They are in two totally different parts of the City, and are going after two completely different markets. There is definitely room for both to be successful.
I agree, and I hope this proves to be true!

If the materials are as quality as those renderings and I believe the zoning calls for, the Centennial Park development will be wonderful. Now those 5-ish dead blocks downtown will be down to 3 blocks.

I totally agree, Buck. I also think the talls and the grocery store we would all like to see will be on those 3 blocks.

I sit on the DRC for Downtown. Post has consistently stated that these two blocks are only Phase I for the area. They need to establish rent comparables in the area in order to secure financing for a more intensive Phase II on the block to the east, which will be high-rise and will include retail.

Oh wow! That'll be really exciting for downtown

Replacing or fresh-installing climate control, electric, plumbing and lighting for 2 million square feet of a mostly 80 year old building.

I've had the luck of getting to tour it 4 times since Jamestown bought and I've been blown away each time with the progress.

The first office tenants took possession on Sep 1st and should be moving in early 2015. I think the apartments are way too expensive, but we'll see how that goes. Got to walk through a two-bedroom unit on the 6th floor a few weeks ago and it's nice, but wow, that's pricey.
That is true and great to hear, thanks for the update.

Buckhead Atlanta has released its entire tenant list as well, while PCM still has a lot left to announce. PCM may feel slow, but think about how long those streets in Buckhead were a giant hole in the ground before anything started happening there. I'm really excited to hear more about what retail is coming to PCM.

MARTA Looks at Urban Station Air-rights--

'In other U.S. cities such as Washington, D.C., developers need access to air rights because of the shortage of land around existing train stations. Historically, a lack of land hasn’t been much of an issue in the city of Atlanta, but that is starting to change, especially in Buckhead and Midtown, where a wave of high-rise residential projects are either in planning or underway, Sams and Saporta reported.'

Agreed. As far as I know, I think that there are still only 3.5 ongoing apartment/condo projects in Midtown:

1. Mid-rise apartments between Ponce and North just west of Piedmont
2. Centergy 2
3. Student housing one block north of Centergy 2
3.5. Yoo, which is moving at a snail's pace

It's been this way for a while...hoping some dirt turns on other projects soon.

I'm surprised they allowed that huge blank wall on the Juniper side of Proton Therapy center.

Construction is underway in Viewpoint for the Starbucks relocation, plumbing inspection was completed today.

Also, a few renderings from 5th & Piedmont per What Now Atlanta. They have started site work on these.

I love the way they are incorporating the old house into this development. Very smart.

Anybody know the history of that place?

I was on the same PCM tour with Trainaic and by chance happened to have been in Chelsea Market the day before. Of the two, I'm much happier that we have PCM.
Both are (will be) honoring their history by using period artifacts and fixtures but it appears more so at PCM with train tracks, rail cars and other features from the Sears days.
The retail portion feels larger and more open with indoor and outdoor dining options. To me, CM's hallways seem more narrow, lower and darker than PCM's. I'm very imperssed with the way PCM has designed the different levels to add visual interest and a sense of openess.
PCM connects directly into the Beltline. I don't know why but CM does not connect to The Highline although it sits adjacent to this incredible 'park'.
I'm glad Jamestown got to 'practice' on CM before coming home and renovating our space although I predict it will be impossible to get anywhere near the property for months after it opens.
