Why does this look so much shorter compared to Manhattan West?

As a whole, I think it looks kinda ridiculous.

I think it looks pretty interesting ... although when Phase 2 opens and they let Frank Gehry build one of the towers there it might ruin the thing.

I can't stand Frank Gehry ... he's a hack and all his buildings are hideous.

It’s supposed to be about 16 ft higher than MW, the Spiral about 46 ft higher. There is a big drop off in elevation from MW though. I would compare them to the railyard towers.

Judging from the crowds that are always over there, I would say yes. I know the internet is full of snark, but it’s still a top destination, and that’s saying a lot considering it’s still a less than half completed construction zone in the middle of nowhere.

When the massive park expansion in HYII is completed, combined with the Highline connection to Penn (and it's renovation) and 418 11th Ave, along with the already massive tourist destinations (like the edge, and recently opened skyscraper climb) this place is going to blow up even more.

I walked around the area a lot yesterday, and it’s probably hard for people to grasp the concept (people don’t follow development plans). But visit the area just 10 years ago, and you wouldn’t think any of this was possible. These two buikdings alone (Spral, 50 Hudson) are going to put thosands of people in the area.

Yep! Time reveals all, but I feel Hudson Yards will be a major tourist spot akin to Central Park and WTC with the changes happening around these and other areas! Until new towers around One Vanderbilt are completed, where else are you gonna find so many supertalls within a few city blocks of each other?

When the Penn Station Reno is done, and the towers built supertalls will stretch across Midtown. (or at least, I hope there is lots of supertalls. We technically only have one confirmed one, and that's 15 Penn).

I like Hudson Yards.
People who find it ridiculous because they start from a big mistake, implicitly comparing it to the wtc.
While wtc is the epitome of power and elegance and respect, Hudson Yards is something else, it's fresh cheeky with an aura of lightheartedness.
