The ultimate in discount store. You know how Wal-Mart has everything, but a cheap version shipped from a sweatshop in China? GT has the same item but even cheaper, from a sweatshop in Nigeria or something.

Oh, and more damn-near-if-not-already expired food than you can shake a stick at.

Sometimes they have good deals on fireworks or other weird one-offs, but beyond that it can be a pretty scary place in terms of product quality and safety. I think technically their stuff might have brands on it but it's the type of place you can actually find a Sorny TV or Panaphonics radio, if you know what I mean.

Two words: Dual branding. Not only is Future Shop nearby, but a Sony Store, Blacks, EB Games, Telus, Walmart, and some other places.

I'm well aware of all of this. All I mean is that despite all of this, it still manages to be the number two store in the country... surprising. I would think all of the competition and it's damn twin a block away would reduce it's overall numbers. Guess not.

What is "Audiotronics"?

Most FS stores (not sure about the #1 shop) have a BB next door, or at least within the same shopping complex. So it's not too surprising. Them marketing guys know their stuff.

Speaking of Blockbuster, not sure if it was mentioned but the Kensington one is closed, looks like the RBC next door is taking over it's space.. too bad, I was hoping they'd knock that building down.

I wasn't aware of the partnership. Just noticed on their website they had locations in Calgary. No wonder the locations were familiar.

Does anyone know of a good home security company in Calgary, cameras, alarms, etc.? Two days in a row strange things have been happening at my parents house and they're freaked out. Last night it was obvious that someone had come up and tried the back door in the middle of the night, and the night before someone came up and rang the bell, then left as soon as they saw someone coming.

Did a commando raid on The Core this Boxing Day. Was in and out in just over an hour and made out like a bandit. 7 dress shirts, 4 pair of dress pants, a belt and 6 pairs of socks for $315.00. Needless to say I wasn't shopping at Holt Renfrew.

Crowds were almost non-existence but I'm sure that will change by this afternoon.

So Tiffany's is opening at Chinook Centre this spring... but there still hasn't been an official announcement of Victoria's Secret yet.

With a full scale Tiffany store in Calgary it might attract even more high end co-tenants to Chinook.

Also, the CORE is really looking great these days. Looking forward to the new H&M, Gap and Guess stores to open - should be good traffic generators for downtown.

The CORE is a freaking lifesaver on days like this. Free heated indoor parking and the skylight is fun to watch snow swirl around on. It's my new favourite cold weather destination.

I always pull into the Holt parkade. It's almost never busy and it's kinda fun to come up the elevator into the snooty store. Free parking (first 3 hours) at the most expensive store in Calgary is awesome.

Is this (free parking for the first 3 hours) valid throughout the week or just on weekends?

I thought I saw a sign at Chinook for Juicy Couture, located 2nd level of the new phase above A/X.
