Ten-Acre Development Proposed for Piedmont/Lindbergh Area in Buckhead

Fuqua Development has proposed a 10-acre project near the Lindbergh MARTA station.

“It’s the only grocery store that we know of that’s really on a MARTA line, I mean direct access to a MARTA line. There’s some within 8 or 9 blocks around town but this is really the closest grocery store to a major MARTA line,” says founder Jeff Fuqua.

The proposal also calls for 180 senior housing units and nearly 150 detached single family homes.

Apparently he forgot that Plaza Midtown's Publix is right by Midtown MARTA...

Ha yep. Hell, the North Ave Publix is only 3 blocks from Marta.

Jeff Fuqua is the worst. Not only the Midtown Publix, but also the North Ave Publix, Decatur Kroger, Ashby Walmart, Chamblee Walmart and Chamblee International Market, etc.

The new design is awful. Another suburban surface parking big-box turd Fuqua will try to pass off as TOD. Can we organize against this guy to try to block all Fuqua developments in Atlanta?

Proposal is gross. I like the idea, I just don't like the lack of any imagination. That project needs to be much denser.

It literally has detached single family homes on private, gated roads. It couldn't be any worse. Everyone should contact councilman Wan and voice your opposition.

Keep in mind the 359 unit complex is already being built (at least I believe so). Pretty much he'll be building one apt building, a bunch of single family gated homes, and a large big box and parking lot.

Fuqua has managed to develop a project that actually lowers the bar! I'm very concerned about what he's planning to pull out of his butt on the Braves development. Stop him before he builds again.

Didn't Fuqua build the Edgewood Retail Center? Is he forgetting the Kroger there?

Kroger Lindbergh (proposed) v. Kroger Edgewood:

I will note that as this satellite image shows, the "big box" concerns for the Lindbergh location may be a little overblown. Between the Home Depot and the Target already there, the Kroger will fit right in.

That's the point. If we keep building more of the same, we should keep expecting the same results (sprawl and low transit use). This area is zoned as dense transit-oriented. Fuqwad is trying to get a zoning variance to build detached single family homes in a gated community across the street from one of the busiest MARTA stations.

I'm sure the NPU is on high alert over this. They can't stand this guy, either.

Honestly, the only recent proposal of his that I can stomach is the new Sprouts-anchored development at Piedmont & Rock Springs. The rest is suburban schlock.

Yep-- The baby-faced, short-fingered vulgarian is at it again-- please ban this guy from building, anywhere-- but especially in the City--

First Post / GSU Law Building

Greetings all! This is my first post - enjoy!

GSU Law Building (My Photo)

Another angle with streetcar stop in foreground (My Photo)

I know that some feel a taller building would have fit this lot better, but in my opinion the scale is quite good. Up close the building seems large and it fills in the gap behind the waterfall at Woodruff Park nicely. The area around the park boasts a wide variety of buildings (tall, short, new, and old) and the new law building will add to the mix. As a GSU student, I can tell you that the Woodruff Park area is crawling with students and this building will only add to the vibrancy of downtown. There are plenty of places to build tall within a few blocks (even on the same block), so lets support GSU for developing downtown!

Love the design too!

Ugh, I'm dreading what that development will do to traffic. They're adding another bottleneck for north-bound traffic by having only one dedicated northbound lane, rather than the two that exist now.

I had no idea this was happening! That's just stupid, and you're right - that will be a huge cluster.

And watch the development go through to because the city doesn't care about trying to be walkable and dense outside of the beltline(Hell, even inside, some areas of skeptical).

The city outside of the beltline is beyond repair and will remain suburban. Buckhead along Peachtree will be an outlier.

I went by 811 yesterday. That drilling vehicle sure is purple. I guess that's why they call it Barney.

Glimpses: Buckhead's Super-Massive 'Camden Paces' Project

The Camden Paces project, while massive, has managed to stay under-the-radar for many Atlanta development watchers. So consider this Visual Journey a sneak peek (we asked officials for a more intimate photo tour but didn't hear back.) Three years ago, Camden Property Trust bought the 1970s apartment complex on this land and wiped the slate clean. The 20-acre complex will be home to 379 one, two and three-bedroom apartments and rental townhomes that front East Andrews Drive, just north of the Buckhead Village. Signage at the site brags: "Atlanta's Finest Apartment Homes Coming Soon." Indeed, the first townhome residents began moving in this month. But the finest in the land?
