Has anyone noticed that at the core for floors 49 and 50 there are 2
vertical steel beams that are 3 floors tall.

If you are looking at camera 2 from the discovery cameras, I think those are two of the perimeter beams for 49 and 50 behind the core steel creating an optical illusion ??

^^^ If you look closely there appears to be some diagonal pieces directly belw the taller columns. Perhaps the core is changing shape here?

Awesome pic! Yep definitely two taller columns. I retract my earlier statement about it being an optical illusion.

They are 4 floors tall. A splice on 49 and 53. That is a great shot showing the top. Along with the Disney WTC 7 shot from above.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the diagonal piece joining with the first vertical piece at that level.

There will be no underground connector on the southside, so it's important to keep that connection. Anyway, I'm glad to see there were no incidents with today's storm.

Not an exact copy obviously, but the crown and spire here reminds me of the way the top will come together for the Freedom Tower.

^Yeah, but there were stirrings that Brookfield wanted to tear it down, just like how they blocked the rebuilding of the north bridge.

I went and looked it up on the prints, there is an MEP shaft in that corner of the core that stops at the 49th floor. So, it is due to a reconfiguration of the core walls. We should see alot of that especially above the 68th floor.

The corner node starts about 6 feet above the 51st floor and ends 6 feet shy of the 59th floor. It's rather small and boring compaired to the 20th floor corner nodes.
