That turned out better than I expected and pretty damn cool I gotta say.

I need to leverage my DLT contacts to get up on the roof for a summer patio party.

Nice photos.

So when is that parking lot next to it being redeveloped?

Not sure. The proposal was a pretty uninspired office tower that was the exact same height as Deloitte next door. With the office market a bit soft right now, it's probably on hold for the time being.

Lol I was going to jump in and say we are saved, for the moment, from uninspired, but you got there first.

Awesome pics, once again, giallo!

It does look a little better with the better lighting in the DH pic.

The Coliseum library really holds up too, love it.

Ideally we'd see a hotel proposal for the lot next door.

Nice.

Also, agreed: library great. Deloitte (410 W Georgia) great. New Post office across the street, great. Even Telus and 650 W Georgia to the west of Telus have some architectural flair.

Would something exciting at 450 W Georgia then be just too much architecture for this area and we need a "buffer" boxy style building between the others? Or just max out the flair in this area?

Hopefully this doesn't look like garbage.

The Lantern Effect

Coming Soon to Deloitte Summit

When designing Deloitte Summit, we asked our architects to come up with an idea where the office building morphs into something else, such as a piece of sculpture.

The resulting project reimagines the conventional glass box and takes inspiration from a Japanese light sculpture.

The lantern effect at Deloitte Summit, is be a programmed “performance”. Every evening, the building lights will dim and the blinds lower, as a prelude. Then the building will slowly illuminate, taking on a lantern-like effect and then dimming. In this way the project will always add to the vibrancy of the city, whether full of thousands of people or none.

You can dance by the blinds to be part of the show?

Some article mentioned this:

"A little before 9 pm, the building lights will be dimmed, and the blinds will be lowered. At sharp 9 pm, the building will slowly light up, giving out a lantern-like effect!"

So maybe it's a summer time thing when there are not that many people in the office.

Around June, the display would have to be later than 9pm.
I could see people who stay late having extra task lighting.
I could also see tenants opposing the display if it impacts their office lights.

Deloitte is subleasing some of their space. 16th floor.

https://www.cushmanwakefield.com/en/...6324-l#gallery

They had a building permit to finish it in 2022

Next year will be it's 30th anniversary. I think it's held up extremely well in terms of functionally, architecture, and general building construction quality (far from a given).

Except for that empty plaza facing Summit, so unappealing. Why can't they activate that somehow?

One thing I've always wondered, why does the Library Square Public House always have a lineup on the weekends? Seems a bit isolated compared to other watering holes.

It does work well as a funnel.
I've always thought that the plaza paving stones should have been a different colour from the building itself.
