I should visit this museum. It must be better than the London Museum (which is pathetic) at the forks.

I'm surprised how fast they are actually working on this.

I think this will cause a real rejuvenation of Wellington South making it a much more pleasant street and the creation of a shopping/rest destination. The BRT will be the impetus but the huge housing developments in SoHo will create the critical mass needed because Hamilton Road is a bit of a write-off and has a negative stigma that Wellington doesn't.

The stretch of Wellington between Horton and the river could be so much better with around 2000-4000 high rise residential units in some amazing towers. Podium based retail and commercial business and broad sidewalks large enough to accommodate sidewalk patios for restaurants.


Hopefully our local big developers and maybe some out of towners will start buying up these properties and think big.

1. "How fast?" LOL. They aren't falling behind schedule I don't believe, but they aren't setting any land speed records with this either. They haven't even started working on widening the bridge over the river.

I think come along once the route is done. Developers will come in big time along Wellington but not before all construction is done. Despite some ugly buildings, the section of Wellington has good bones. Businesses will also see it more appealing aplace to set-up due to the significant streetscape updates the road will get.

Emailed the city re BRT and got some info: All buses will be 18 meter articulates and all buses going straight down Richmond currently will continue to do so and all others will use the Downtown Loop.

In terms of frequency, the East Link will see rush hour service of every 5 minutes and 10 minutes off-peak. Wellington will see rush hour service of every 10 minutes and 20 minutes off peak initially although she said that will probably be higher and become more in line with the East Link when the entire section to Exeter is complete.

Those are pretty damn good frequency levels.

They have now paved and painted the lines on the northbound side of Wellington St. Expect they will do a traffic shift soon and start digging up the southbound side of the street.

Seeing the Downtown Loop is nearly done and the Eastern Route well under construction, when exactly do they intend to get the buses?

??? They already have the buses.. Any of the buses in their fleet will operate on the BRT route. Nothing special about them.

I would think and hope that they either get new buses or they at least brand the BRT differently. Some might not think branding matters, but in a city that has a poor reputation for transit, seeing different, branded buses going in dedicated lanes should help change the mindset.

I think they are. As London hardly has enough Articulated 60Ft/18m buses as it is. Majority of the buses are 40FT/12m. & I think some of the articulated models are from 2002-2003, so nearing 21 years old.
