The Cira South thread has been bifurcated. Any further information on the FMC site can go here.

Ooh nice! Its own thread! This building will be just like how 1 Liberty Place was and it will allow for taller and more expansion to the west. (Not that there isn't any of that going on right now.)

I go to drexel, and I heard that the university is in the process of buying up almost all of the land around campus west of 30th st station. There already is a 300ft+ dorm tower planned on 33rd above market, awaiting the demo of an old building. I don't see this area slowing down at all either, so we could expect a skyline expansion along the market st, although these new developments will likely not be offices, so much as tall campus buildings.

A crane on the site

Tried to post pics from Flickr but did not work. There is a crane on the FMC site today though.

I noticed that as well. Flickr is tricky. You have to choose image size (usually I choose large), and the from there, right click and either "copy image location" if you're on a Mac, or "copy image url" if you are on a PC.

Great! Looks like they're digging for footings. Site prep is officially beginning for FMC. Exciting news!

Not to rain on the parade, but isn't it possible that they're just installing a tower crane now for the addition of the stories on the parking garage? Didn't someone mention that here several days ago?

They wouldn't use a tower crane for that I would assume... Likely a mobile crane. If they are using a tower crane for the garage, then I would assume that will also be used for FMC tower. They wouldn't put a crane up, and then take it down, just to put another one up.

Perhaps they would (found the earlier post):

What's going on with the garage adjacent to the FMC tower? Are they adding more decking to increase capacity?

Yes. Probably another floor or two to the garage... then a roof top greenspace when construction of both towers is complete.

Yep--definitely more than what would be needed for just the garage addition.

And the sun's out, so no more raining on the parade.

I updated the first page of this thread. I wish I could update the first page of the CITC thread as I view that as the most impressive skyscraper we will follow for a while.

Any rumors of a 1000ft tower going up over the parking garage?
