Right. In fact, this photo was taken from the restaurant level of the Hyatt, and from that view 5th & West would be behind 360, not in front of it. The placement here makes it appear to be on the state garage block - east of 360.

Even then, these proportions are way off. The Independent will not appear double the size of the 360 as it does here. Nor will be set that far in front of the 360. In fact from some angles, a portion of it will be covered by 360. Not to mention Proper (from this view at least) will also block the lower half. Compare the Seaholm (341 ft) to the Independent in this rendering and the latter is easily depicted as over 1,100 ft

Yup. They wanted to show the Independent at the level of the Austonian. But they're fighting the photo's perspective and so you end up with this mega tower that doesn't fit with it's surroundings that obey perspective. Lame.

5th and West will be behind 360 from this view, however 360 is already hidden by 500 West 2nd, which for some reason has switched places with 3rd and Shoal in that rendering.

I kind of still have to pinch myself that the Independent is really U/C, and we're getting a new tallest. It is weird to see such a tall tower go up without an underground component, though.

Latest rendering of the Independent Condo Tower from the north side of the building.

The building will have tamped earth floors. It is a sustainability feature.

Appears a lot of dead unused space on top of the parking garage. That is a wasted use of space IMHO.

That's got to be where they'll put the pool...right? I don't see it anywhere else on the rendering, so that has to be the place. I mean it's not rare, since almost every single other residential building does the same thing.

If so, the pool is not going to get much sunlight past noon.

As I recall from previous renderings, the pool will be on the south side of the building, on the "angled" side of the parking structure (it juts out a bit). Hopefully, they will put some green if not an outright mini-park on the top of the parking structure.

I agree that a complete waist of space, could be a fake grass area for BBQ, sitting or something. The lot is free of Capital View Corridor so they could utilize that space.

The pool is on the south side.

That rendering is the first one to clearly show that wasted space. Perhaps that's why it wasn't released sooner.
