I see construction crews putting footings in at the Kent Distribution Warehouse. Is this the start of their expansion they had talked about?

The commercial property (currently occupied by an older home) on Elmwood across the street from the Dairy Queen has a sold sign on it, I believe that's very recent.

1.016 million for 2.49 acres... someone must have plans for that considering the insane price.

Wonder who owns the other 4 lots one of them seemingly a useless sliver with it's own PID. That might be why the higher price. That, and of course the fact commercial properties, and Multi Unit properties seem to automatically fetch a higher price tag.

Indeed. This looks to be a fairly substantial expansion to the Kent facility, and a pretty quick one too since the current building is only about two years old.

Another couple of tidbits from the Caledonia Industrial Park:

(1) - The new KelCold cold storage and logistics facility next to the Kent Distribution Centre is scheduled to open later this month. This is also a substantial building.



(2) - There is a "coming soon" sign up a little further away on Frenette Avenue for a new Wabash truck trailer dealership. I presume this will also be a fairly large project.......

It appears that they are getting ready for foundation work for the new Nova International (Kubota) tractor dealership bordering on the TCH in the new Caledonia Industrial Estates South. Road access to the new dealership is also under construction.

It's not surprising. I drive by there twice a day and I never see any cars there. People in this neighbourhood have their favorites already, Shoppers or Lawtons. Pharmasave gave no incentives or lower prices for anyone to make the switch.

Indeed. It was open only about 6 months and was the main anchor for McLaughlin Place. When was the last time you saw a pharmacy going out of business??? It's generally a pretty safe business model. I wonder what happened???

Agreed I've seen Pharmacies in areas where there are not as many people, and there is the local Pharmacy along ith one in the grocery store, and these don't go out of Bussiness. I think David_99 has a point we go that way on a weekly bases since my brother lives out passed the Uni, and never see very many vehicles if any. There hours can't help either 9-9 Monday-Friday 9-6 Saturday, and 11-6 Sunday, while both Shoppers is open 8-10 Sunday-Saturday, and Lawtons 8:30-10 M-F 9-10 S 10-10 S. and if something happends that you miss them there is a Shoppers 6 Minutes away that is open from 8-midnight Sunday-Saturday.

I wonder if it was pricing that did them in. I shopped there once to pick up a few basic items and to see the new store. Their prices were much higher then what I was used to at Shoppers or Lawtons (both nearby). I never went back after that.

I personally find Shoppers to be more expensive, but I guess that would depend on what items.
Anyway, I go by here a lot and stopped in a few times. Good sales on some things. I met the pharmacist owner and he seems like a super nice guy. And Mr. Steeves, the developer, is also a very good fellow. I was considering moving my prescriptions over to the Pharmasave but didn't do it as I don't currently have any prescriptions.
My guess is that it is Hard to get folks to switch from the pharmacy they've been using for years and the store couldn't sustain bleeding money any longer.

It's too bad - it's a nice looking building.

I don't believe there was a physicians office or a walk-in clinic adjacent to the store was there? Most pharmacies have an adjacent doctors office. it's kinda like having a captive audience. This could have been the big flaw in their business model.

No there wasn't but I do beleive they wanted to do similarly to the old Mountain Rd Jean Coutu, and have the Pharmacy, and Medical offices together side by side. But I'm not sure if it was on the plans, or just hopeful thinking from the pharmacist. Knowing full well most prescriptions are filled thanks to the doctors offices within the same building, or as close as posible it could be what cause the final nail in the cofin.

Yes there is a sign on a door right beside the entrance door, if I recall correctly. They also had the doctor's name on the portable sign by the road at one point.
