I find the parking lot isn't much of a upgrade. Went to Harvey's the other day and had to wait for someone to leave to get a parking spot lol

The parking situation at the new Harvey's & Swiss Chalet is awful. I think it's worse than the former location. We went there the other day and we had to park on the side street (Rue Grand Pré). Which is probably prohibited.

I agree with how bad the parking is at the new Swiss Chalet/Harvey's. It is horrible. I could not find a place to park and waited a couple of minutes. Nothing was available and we left. So i am sure they are losing some business due to lack of parking.

Interesting.

If I may be allowed to loosely associate for a minute, and put on my conspiratorial blinders, I would like to propose the following sequence of events.

1) - new Sobeys for Dieppe Blvd.
2) - this brings into play the old speculation regarding the future of the Champlain Place Sobeys.
3) - rumours are starting to ramp up about a possible Forever 21 at Champlain Place.
4) - there are no spots at Champlain Place big enough for F21 unless.......
5) - could the stars be aligning for F21 to replace Sobeys at Champlain Place.

Hmmmmmm.............

After all, Champlain Place is a "fashion mall". Does a grocery store belong at a fashion mall............

Easy fix (if they do it) they can actually expand the lot back they purchased the entire island, or whatever they call it. So there is plenty of space behind the building I do believe to expand the parking lot.

I do agree with you, and I talked to some people who had worked there while the renovations where going on, and they had been skipped over so a lot of employees where waiting to either be transferred, or get there termination papers. Talked to a few who where heading into work, and most of the staff I know (The Staff who has been there longest) have already been transferred between right after New Years, and this last week. So it looks like Sobeys in the mall Might actually be closing. It's still just speculation but looks to be what is going on with staff receiving transfers they din't want, or ask for. (From what I've been told so take it with a pinch of salt Might be some who asked for a transfer 5-10 years ago, and forgot about it)

I just received the spring issue of DieppeMag. Here are some highlights:

Major roadwork plans for 2017
- Gauvin between Bras-d'Or and d'Aulnay
- Virginia between Acadie and Grand Pre
- Extension of Dieppe Boulevard between Melanson and Belle-Foret
- Fox Creek between Amirault and LeBlanc
- Extension of Aviation Ave

Underground water reconstruction plans for 2017
- Sunset between Paul and Acadie
- St-Therese between Paul and Acadie

Microsurfacing plans for 2017
- Champlain between Acadie and west city limits (conditional on funding)
- Gauvin between Acadie and du Marche

Resurfacing plans for 2017
- Final layer of asphalt on Acadie marsh project
- Amirault between Chartersville and Melanson (conditional on funding)
- Orleans between Notre-Dame and Gaspe
- Gould between Notre-Dame and du College
- Thomas between Thadee and Avalon
- Lavoie St
- Champlain from Civic 1719 to east city limits (conditional on funding)

Also Dieppe is bringing back the Participatory Budgeting Project again in 2017 where residents have a chance to bring their own ideas and vote on certain municipal projects. Last year the projects that received funding were Lakeburn Rocks - indoor climbing wall, outdoor physical training circuit, good old fashioned nature park and a special surface for ball hockey.

Lastly, a total of 525 building permits were issued in 2016 representing over $90 million. This is up from $70 million in 2015

The Flag Shoppe on Champlain St is closing (apparently permanently according to the T&T).

The old Archdiocese building has been torn down finally. It was purchased back in 2015 but there are still no plans for the property According to the owner a development company from Nova Scotia.

A new children's clothing store is set to open next month on Rue du Marche.
The store is the creation of a woman originally from Cap-Pele plans to open her store Boutique Mini Coco in May.

This is the last vacancy in the recently built Champlain Dental building.
