We've turned the corner, it's warm and sunny every day now and should continue for the next four months or so.

I was out laying in the sun yesterday for nearly an hour without noticing I wasn't alone

I moved him down to the pond on my neighbour's property

Cool! What species is that?

36.3 in Lytton today, several other stations over 35 in BC, but that’s not enough to be too dog today…

Temps falling to low 20s tomorrow though.

That's a fox snake. They are an endangered species, but there are a lot right around my house. They get up to about 5 feet long and are completely harmless. They don't even try to attack.

Thanks! I specifically wanted to document it in its green state before it goes golden and dormant for the summer.

Today was a little like summer around Vancouver. Sunny, warm, dry.

Thursday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 23 C (27 C w/Humidex), the low was 13 C.

7C and cloudy in Moncton at 9 AM. WYSIWYG for the rest of the day. Some showers this afternoon.

We have an omega block, and the current weather pattern will remain for the next week. It will at least get up to the mid teens by Monday.

It could be worse. It is currently 0C and snowing in Sydney NS,

I just saw a new post from Frankie MacDonald, the greatest weather enthusiast in Canadian history, and he was standing in a shopping mall parking lot in Sydney, Nova Scotia, with the snow coming down hard at 0.1 degrees…

Sydney's daytime high today is forecast to be 3 which is just half of their normal overnight low of 6 for this time of year. Miserable may not be a strong enough word given that it's snowing/raining too. Just the most western areas of the maritime region are somewhat escaping the cold air funneling down here due to the omega block over the prairies. Here on Bedford Basin we're sitting at 7.3 at 9 am and heading to a high of 10 today. I've got a couple of fresh pallets of wall stone calling my name but it's too wet this morning to be out in the garden. This afternoon or tomorrow I'll finish building a 20' x 4' planter on our building's podium roof in which I'll plant a row of 'big tuna' mugo pine along with summersweet shrubs and sweet woodruff as a ground cover.

There is still ice on the northern portion of Lake Winnipeg, right next to Grand Rapids.

Cape Breton is a bit more northerly and sticking out into the Gulf of St. Lawrence, and they have pretty bad spring weather. They're somewhere in between mainland NS and Newfoundland. Yarmouth is +12 right now.

With this kind of weather pattern there isn't really anything to protect them from very cold air and ocean currents coming down from around Labrador.

I find sometimes Atlantic Canada or the Maritimes are presented like a "place" and you'll hear about the "weather in NS" or similar. But if you were in Ontario, people would understand that Toronto and Sudbury won't necessarily be the same. Around here I also sometimes hear people talk about what the weather used to be back home on the east coast, and they mean Deer Lake or Gander, where snow in June isn't the norm but also isn't totally impossible.

Another gorgeous day in Toronto. We usually match Quebec & eastern Canada's overall pattern, but we are catching the tail end of the massive ridge stuck over the middle of the country. So we aren't getting that extreme heat, but consistently around seasonal and low amount of cloud cover + no rain. Similar conditions you would normally find this time of year in the Okanagan valley, a bit atypical for us as we tend to have more active weather and humidity by now.

Currently 23 with a humidex of 24. Dewpoint of 9.6 and rel humidity of 43%. Pleasant and dry, all sunshine. EC has us going up to 26.

7 day:

26/21/25/22/24/24/28

9/11/10/10/10/10/12

The cool nights are refreshing. Although eventually, I would enjoy some of those classic sultry Ontario summer nights

^ Yep there is a divide right smack in the middle of Ontario. Interestingly enough we went hiking right where that divide is happening, so it was half doom and gloom, half bright and sunny. Lots of accompanying wind.

The place is question is the Queen Elizabeth Wildlands (appropriately named).

Peak of the doom and gloom but you can see some blue sky

Blue sky started winning the battle

Hence why I said Sydney, Nova Scotia, not just Nova Scotia or The Maritimes.

It happens everywhere.

I always laugh when The Weather Network headlines, “Snow in BC!” but it’s only snowing on the mountain highway passes where nearly no one lives and are a kilometer and a half above sea level.

Beautiful day in Calgary, pushing 30C. Rain on its way, with up to 50mm coming to Calgary over the next 4 days.

This is from today (my pic)

18C but that was only for a brief hour when we had clearer conditions. Otherwise it was around 15C and rainy. Showers on and off. Thunderstorm this evening. Would it be too much to ask for a proper heat wave??? We haven't had one in almost a year now.

Low of 14C this morning. Dark and shitty.

The warmspot was Grand Rapids, MB at 35.6C.

Warmest low yesterday was Saskatoon, SK at 20.7C. New highest low this year.

We are on pace for the coolest May since 2019 in MTL. That is on top of what we've been enduring the past 8 months.
