The 404 is a busier highway than you might realize. I haven't really spent a lot of time in that area during the morning rush hours but there are a lot of quarries in Northern York Region that generate a tonne of truck traffic which the new highway will divert from local roads. York Region has already four-laned Woodbine Avenue going north from Ravenshoe in anticipation of the Hwy 404 tie-in.

I am sure that York Region has lobbied for the highway extension as well so that they can build more subdivisions in Georgina.

There are still settlement areas in the greenbelt that haven't reached their growth boundaries. There's actually a lot of room for growth in Keswick, Sutton, etc.

This is the Cremazie onramp onto the Metrepolitan (Trans Canada) in Montreal.

Take a look at where the jeep is. Technically not allowed to merge yet. And when he is allowed to merge he has several car lengths to merge onto a major highway with traffic (much of it heavy) travelling at high speeds. Appalling.

The Metropolitan is not the most dangerous highway in North America for nothing.

To be fair, the speed limit on that section of the Metropolitain is only 70, so if everybody obeyed the speed limit (which they don't), you would have more than enough room to safely merge into traffic, the idiot drivers here make our roads alot more dangerous than they really are

Once the Autoroute 30 bridge is completed, they should fully rebuild the Metropolitaine...it would require a full closure as a result...

^ I totally agree... though I can't see it happening.

Even if it weren't upgraded so to speak, I don't think the Met has seen any serious TLC since it was first constructed. It's older than the Turcot, so I am sure it needs it.

Franks, if you are looking to make some more road vids, a Metropolitaine vid would be high on my request list. Particularly at dusk or at night. Same goes for the A-20 going into Downtown. The lighting when the highway runs through the 138 interchange is awesome.

Driving to Toronto recently I noticed that in the 1000 Islands region west of Brockville on the 401 there is a big distance sign that reads GananoGue instead of the correct GananoQue. Good one guys!

You can see on the concrete where the old lines were that have been eradicated, the orange lines will be erased too.

The concrete strikes me as ultimate/permanent final layer of pavement, I don't think they're paving over it down the road.

If you are asking what highway this is and where it's located, this is Highway 401 at the interchange of the 403 and 410 in Mississauga.
They are extending the collector lanes west past this interchange.

Excellent ride. Been a few years since I did it in it's entirety, but rarely does traffic flow this well during the day. I always forget about the refineries in Montreal-Est, and then can't help but behold their majestic-ugliness.

Thanks for your comment. I've always considered a waste of space to built rafineries there. When you look at a map, it takes a huge space on the east end of the island. I'm sure it could be used more smarter than actually.
