It's unfortunate that they're using Texas-esque lighting for the downtown connector.

I like the light poles along the connector. gives some dimension to that side of the freeway.

they look distracting to me. i can't imagine they will compliment any view of the city, day or night.

I think they are lights meant for the bridge, I'm sure they will be taken down once the project is finished.

Um, or not. Those are standard, freeway interchange light towers, they're not going anywhere unless Atlanta tornado part 2 comes for a stroll into Midtown.

Regarding the interstate construction, I'm really pleased with the 10th St south bound exit (shaving 7-8 minutes off my commute time). It's like driving down Spring with all green lights from 17th to 10th. I guess the construction throws people off, because I haven't seen many cars on it.

On a bright note also, my employer is adding engineering jobs! And leasing extra office space. Funny how the nuclear industry is adding jobs minus stimulus support.

I posted this on another thread but there are some interesting comments about nuclear power and water and transportation issues.

Whats crazy is that only 10% of the metro area's population actually lives in the city limits.

Isn't it great? I've been taking it after work each day, and I'm usually about the only car on it, while there's gridlock on the connector.

Wait till people start trying to use it to bypass some of the gridlock on the connector...kind of like how people gamble on the I-285E -> I-85N transition by going far right past the I-85S onto that feeder bridge. That or how they use the ramps along I-75N to skip some gridlock.

If it happens it would represent a population growth on par with any suburban county over the last 10 years. Now who would've predicted that in 2000? Thats whats crazy about it.
