I don't even understand exactly what is going on. So the biodiesel company is being bought by Co-Op, and that isn't the one buying this land? Co-op and AGT are strongly against this sale, but council is all in favour. Why is the land being sold under market value and to who?

The strange thing is that was unanimous so I wonder what it is to get the "progressive" side to agree?

A popular theory I've seen is that it's a part of a bid process (we are sweetening the deal), and the company is considering multiple sites and has a year to decide. Would be hilarious if it's a distribution centre of some kind (Amazon?) and it doesn't end up in the GTH.

My educated guess it’s a Small Modular Reactor that Saskatchewan promised to have implemented by 2030ish along with Ontario and New Brunswick.

Saskwatch Survey a couple months backed was asking participants questions relating to Nuclear Power. They had a 40 minute presentation informing the viewer how nuclear power from SMR’s are safer. The timing of everything seems to line up.

If AGT is objecting it must be a competitor either in rail logistics or pulse crops. I don't blame them. I do not believe AGT have received any subsides.

From comments by the mayor, it is more than City's 640 acres as she refers to the need for confidentiality to protect the land assembly by the proponent. CTV also says the rail line (CN) is expected to be used.

Probably not nuclear power then, as I don't think you can pour the nuclear energy in rail cars. :p

Also, while there may be modular reactors built in SK in the future, I am fairly confident they won't be built immediately adjacent to cities.

According to the news that is not what the land sale is for.

Given that there's another couple large users looking around the city, things could get interesting. But they're all still a big "if".
