Didn’t waving the white towels thing start with Roger Neilson in Vancouver in 1982 on their run to the finals? He was frustrated with the refs so he stuck a towel on the end of a hockey stick as mock surrender to the officials. The next game in Vancouver they handed out white towels for the crowd to wave.

Here is a story about it:

Can't say I've noticed more Oilers merch than others non local teams. Sure right now there will be additional interest being a Canadian team in the final.
I’d say the Oilers have a healthy amount of support throughout Alberta and a good chunk of Saskatchewan. Not from me though - Go Flames

It's still very odd and a universal sign of surrender.

It's also BS that CBC did not pick up those games.

I support a Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup, just so long as it's the Jets.

What if you passionately support the Oilers as much as you passionately support Trudeau? Does that make you pro Canadian?

The interior of bc is a good mixture of oilers, canucks and the occasional flames fan.

The Key stone cop hates Canada.....He has proved this sentiment in numerous ways throughout his disastrous tenure as PM. He encapsulates every undesirable trait that a human being could possess. And he is as weak as a man could be. Maybe ping pong..and then this could be to hard core for this fragile little fella.

I'm with the oil on this one !

Plus as a bonus, I just want to see Bettman reluctantly hand the Cup over to McDavid !

I think instead of just passively watching and not really giving a shit one way or the other, I might actively root for the Panthers now lol.

I don't understand how this is even debatable. It's 30 years. Even Calgary fans should be on board.

Go Oilers!

I am so sick of Canada's Stanley Cup drought that I might even be rooting for the Leafs if they were in the final.

Hmmm... I could've sworn many on here were rooting for the Bruins over the Leafs. In fact, I always come across cheering against the Leafs when they face any US team. Anti-Canadian?

Imagine if Trudeau tweeted support of the Oilers!

Oh wait...

Would some sort of Black Star/Trudeau perpetual motion device be created?

Ignore Blackstars political stuff. He's just a lost puppy who can only vote blue, cause that's the way he's always done it, and his pa, and his grandpa. It don't matter if team blue stabs his kids in the face, he'll still vote for him. hyuk hyuk hyuk.

He's also obsessed with Fucking Trudeau. Most Albertans are closet Trudeau gay.

This is where my mind was at entering these playoffs and so I aligned well with that BP's commercial.

It's time for a Canadian team to win.

Trudeau supports the Oilers and thinks all Canadians should. I'm glad you're finally seeing his viewpoint.
