Side note: I've never noticed how huge the parking deck is for Metropoint. Surely that thing is oversized for students.

I'm really happy to see this - thanks. What an improvement. Despite their flaws, those buildings, imo, have some character. That funny 60s concrete pattern will continue to age well I think

I’m so torn with 725. As excited as I am for the new office tower and grocery, I really hate that big box and surface parking lot. Hoping we hear news about 725 phase 2 in the foreseeable future. Ponce and North Ave deserve better.

If I remember correctly, New City wanted to build on that parking lot but needed the Green's property to make it work and Green's would not sell. It may also be possible that the lot belongs to the Ford Factory Lofts.

I would also like to see this parking lot disappear. Similarly, the lots across the street where MJQ is located seems ripe for redevelopment. I think many of the stores are vacant, why is this not being sold and redeveloped? Its right by the BL, on Ponce, across from the new Kroger and new Claremont Lounge Hotel. It screams redevelopment yet I've never heard any plans discussed.

New City owns part of the parking lot, but definitely not the portion owned by Green's. There is a Phase 2 of 725 that has been in the works. The parcels owned by them are 715 & 725

I am torn about redevelopment in the area particularly for this reason. There are a lot of QUALITY establishments in the immediate vicinity. I would prefer to redevelop where appropriate, create pedestrian plazas on the existing surface parking, and 1-3 story retail where parking is facing the streets.

I know it will happen eventually, but I've head the owner of MJQ has no interest in selling. By the time they do sell, other areas in the city will have filled the void...hopefully.

^ MJQ is still around? Wow. That was one of my hangouts when I lived in Atlanta in the 90s. I knew the owner George, who died really young unfortunately.

This may be the first time ever on this forum I have seen a construction pic with BoA in the background.

Wow they aren't wasting any time! I think that parking lot was being used two weeks ago!

This view will have at least 4 cranes in the near future.
1) Norfolk Southern has two buildings, which will surely require at least 2 cranes.
2) The student housing building.
3) And, the hotel on Peachtree Street.

Wow, Midtown's development wave has finally reached Ponce and is marching rapidly towards crossing North Avenue into SoNo (downtown's talk skinny step sister-BOA).
