YEG link; they're talking about tendering the West part this summer, construction start 2019...

http://edmontonjournal.com/news/local-ne...thering-is-done-west-lrt-is-finally-a-go

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

YVR's Millenium Line Ext / Broadway Subway procurement start 2018, construction start Q4 2019 or more likely Q1 2020.

Surrey's SNG LRT procurement start 2018, construction start Q4 2019 or more likely Q1 2020.

(From March 29, 2018 Open Board Mtg) and here https://www.translink.ca/Plans-and-Projects/Rapid-Transit-Projects/Broadway-SkyTrain-Extension.aspx

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile YYC's Green Line is RFP Q1 2019, award Q2 2020;

http://www.calgary.ca/Transportation/TI/Pages/Transit-projects/Green-line/industry-information.aspx

For a project that had funding announced first, they're starting the latest. What will happen with a new austerity provincial gov't getting elected in 2019 tabling their first budget the quarter before contract award? With a project an order of magnitude larger than any other provincial capital expense?
Assuming Hamilton (2019), Hurontario (2018), Ottawa Stage 2 (2019), GO RER (ongoing and 2019), Finch West (2018), REM (2018) are started beforehand per projections who will be left to bid on YYC's project?

LRT news coming Friday as city waits for bidding to start on $1-billion project
The city is waiting for bidding to begin on construction of the $1-billion light rail transit line as well as details about what guaranteed “community benefits” will flow from the project

https://www.thespec.com/news-story/83901...r-bidding-to-start-on-1-billion-project/
NEWS 04:56 PM by Matthew Van Dongen Hamilton Spectator

Liberal MPP Ted McMeekin will make an LRT announcement Friday as the city waits for bidding to begin on Hamilton's $1-billion light rail transit project.

The city is still waiting for a delayed Request for Proposals to be released by project head Metrolinx for consortiums hoping to bid on the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the 14-kilometre LRT line proposed to run from McMaster University to Eastgate Square.

The bidding process was supposed to start last fall, but was delayed several months by council's decision to debate, then abandon, the idea of the HSR running LRT rather than a private operator.

A March 22 letter from new Metrolinx president Phil Verster, formally considered by council Wednesday night, said the agency planned to release the RFP "in the coming weeks" in the hopes of being able to start construction in late 2019 and have trains rolling by 2024.

It will be a half-assed political proposal by an intern, I guarantee it.

My bet is Du Ruisseau to North Shore following the A15. It won't be half assed if the CDPQi is working on it.

I don’t believe they are. These people are knees deep in the REM and they don’t have a lot of staff.

Bombardier can't deliver, so they went with Alstom with a proven track record.

Great updates on the Ottawa line! I'm glad there's some more movement on the Hamilton LRT, that'll be a great addition to the city.

Interesting that we're seeing the Finch West LRT begin soon....I never really thought of a transit line to go one that roadway until I saw the planning of this line a few years ago.

Yep. Finch LRT, along with the Hurontario LRT in Mississauga, will be using the Alstom Citadis Spirit, the same vehicle that Ottawa's Confederation Line uses. It's the second order for the Spirit (the Confederation Line being the first).
