I can see Skyhouse Buckhead from my living room, so I'll try to post occasional updates.

He could have done the Corey tower better than that....At-least have a professional graffiti artist to design the whole thing and then add some LED lighting and put something sparking on the top of it...SMH...That 1 million dollars was a waste.

Atlanta Intown has done a pretty nice summary of apartment projects in town.

Quote:
Atlanta has gone apartment crazy over the past year, with dozens of complexes in the works, just announced or looking for funding.

Last month, a survey by Rent.com and FlatRate Moving indicated that Atlanta was number 3 for the fastest growing cities for renters in the country (New Orleans and Austin were 1 and 2, respectively).

While Atlanta went through a boom and bust in condos before the recession, the need for apartments in the ever-growing city is likely not to diminish anytime soon. There’s also been rent creep, with studios and small one-bedrooms in prime areas (Ponce City Market, the Atlanta BeltLine) now well above the $1,200 range.

For this feature, we’re offering a progress report on apartments under construction and “projects to watch” that might become reality or remain a pipedream.

Speaking of... I took some pictures around town yesterday. Sorry about the quality.

Alexan at Krog

The new Edgewood Bridge looks great. I think this is going to be a really interesting location in the future.

BOHO

755 North and Old Fourth Ward Park to Beltline Connection.

AMLI Ponce Park

I really like all the brick going up in this area. The amount of change going on along the Beltline is incredible.

I think it's a development by a company called Greystar.

That plan is old and irrelevant. If you Google the approved DRI plan for 98 14th Street you will see the real plan as approved by the City of Atlanta and State of Georgia.

If you look at the Skyhouse Buckhead cam, there's another building going up behind the Mandarin Oriental. Is that Cyan?

The cladding on the College Football Hall of Fame is a product called aluminum composite material (ACM) which is a panel with a plastic core sandwiched by two aluminum sheets. The cladding on Civil Rights Museum is a high pressure compact laminate (HPL) panel which is basically a "wood" core with a finished surface (Trespa is the brand name if you want to look into it more). They're similar in the sense that they're both exterior panels, but they're not the same product. The colors chosen are definitely similar though.

wow, i had no idea there was so much selection in those panels for façades, i figured it was all just some type of generic aluminum sheeting. went to the trespa website and checked it out. good post!

Oh man, they should just forget the stupid billboard and let Living Walls take it over. Now that would be an appropriate Atlanta landmark.

Sure enough, the building across the street was demolished last week and they're putting 240+/- apartment units on 4 acres. Let the traffic-sucking begin! LOL

This thing is going to be incredible! Our first truly postcard worthy development in years!
That's iconic? Like the Gateway Arch? Yeah, sure. I'll just call it the Awful Tower.
